Fifth-ranked NC State women's basketball (12-2, 3-0 ACC) makes its return to Reynolds Coliseum in fitting fashion as it prepares to host rival and 19th-ranked North Carolina (13-0, 3-0 ACC) in front of a sold out home crowd on Thursday night.

The Pack's first game of the 2022 calendar year is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip on the ACC Network, and radio broadcasters Andrew Sanders and Ernie Myers will also have the call on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 60-53)
Thursday's game marks the 114th meeting between NC State and North Carolina. The teams have faced off at least twice every season since the 1974-75 campaign, the Pack's first year as a varsity team.
The Wolfpack and the Tar Heels have traded wins in each of the last seven matchups. Neither team has put together a multi-game streak since NC State won four games in a row against UNC between the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
NC State owns a 30-17 advantage in the series when playing on its home court. The Pack has won each of its last two home games against the Tar Heels

NC State and North Carolina last faced off on Feb. 21, 2021 inside Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack beat the Tar Heels by a final score of 82-63 with the help of 20+ point games from both Jakia Brown-Turner and Kayla Jones.
Thursday's game will mark the first time that NC State and North Carolina have matched up as a pair of ranked teams since Feb. 16, 2014. In that game, the 17th-ranked Tar Heels beat the 10th-ranked Wolfpack 89-82 inside Reynolds Coliseum.

The Wolfpack travels to South Bend, Ind., for a tangle with the 20th-ranked Fighting Irish on Sunday, Jan. 9. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network and is slated to tip at 2 p.m.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that the NC State women's basketball team will visit Miami on Sunday, Jan. 9 for a 2 p.m. tip-off on the ACC Network.

The NC State-Miami game was originally scheduled for Jan. 27 but has been moved up following the postponements of the NC State at Notre Dame game and the Louisville at Miami game, which were both slated for Sunday.

Louisville and Notre Dame are adhering to the outlined COVID protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report, which is available on theACC.com (full report).

Following the ACC's modified 2021-22 COVID-19 Game Rescheduling Policy, the league will look to reschedule the postponed game between NC State and Notre Dame.

Both Sunday's game and last season's Dec. 20, 2020 matchup are games that were moved up from their originally-scheduled spot just days before due to the uncertainties that come with the COVID-19 pandemic.
NC State has visited Miami a total of 11 times ahead of Sunday's matchup. The Pack is 4-7 in those games.
The team's last trip to Coral Gables (Feb. 20, 2020) marked its first road win over the Hurricanes since the 2006-07 season. In that game, NC State overcame a fourth-quarter deficit, and then-freshman Jakia Brown-Turner hit the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining to lead the Pack to the 50-48 victory.
The Wolfpack hosted the Hurricanes on Dec. 20, 2020 for the most recent matchup between the two teams. NC State won that game by a 78-47 score with four players (Cunane, Kayla Jones, Brown-Turner, Kai Crutchfield) scoring in double figures.
