SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 61-53)
Sunday's game marks the 115th meeting between NC State and North Carolina. The teams have faced off at least twice every season since the 1974-75 campaign, the Pack's first year as a varsity team.
NC State has won two in a row over the Tar Heels. It marks the first multi-game streak for either team since the Wolfpack won four games in a row against UNC between the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
Thursday is the second of two regular-season dates between NC State and UNC. Neither team has swept the regular-season meetings since the 2017-18 campaign. That year, the Wolfpack won both regular-season matchups and beat the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
UNC owns a 29-19 advantage in the series when playing in Chapel Hill. NC State's last road win inside Carmichael Arena was on Feb. 24, 2019, a game that the Pack won by a 74-69 score in the teams' second meeting of the 2018-19 regular season.
NC State and North Carolina faced off for the first time this season on Jan. 6 in Raleigh. The Wolfpack beat the Tar Heels by a final score of 72-45.
This game marks the 10th one in a row that the Wolfpack is ranked in the AP Top 25 when taking on the Tar Heels. NC State has been a top-five team in 10 previous matchups against the Tar Heels and owns a 9-1 record in those games. The team is 38-11 against UNC when it is the only of the two teams ranked in the AP Top 25.
