Guys are tearing it up over the last 4 rounds!

Press really has this team playing well. Fun to see the bottom of the lineup playing well. That has always been our problem in the past.

Team is playing great. Same lineup these past two weeks and all 5 guys have had really good scores. I think teh field at this next tournament -- the Hootie at Bulls Bay -- will be tougher. But play like they have, and they'll be capable of playing with anyone.

And today. Currently -14 for the day thru 9-12 holes, which is 7 shots better than the next best score today. But, team golf scores can change very quickly...so hopefully our guys can keep it up. This would be a very nice tournament to grab a team win.

Auburn is loaded. Great talent. Difference between this team and in years past is the quality depth that we have never had before. Our fifth guy each day is shooting good golf. Years past, our forth and fifth guy was blowing up and if someone ahead of them had trouble, we would tumble. The way State always was under Richard. We most of the time had really good talent at the top but it is your third forth and fifth guy that shows how good a team you will have because of the scoring.

so what is new coach doing that Sykes didn't? Recruiting better? or has financial support for team increased (I find that hard to believe, given current financial situation in Athletics Department).

Press has way more quality depth. I do not know why but that was always Richards problem. And the bottom end would always kill us. Have no idea if money has anything to do with it. But for whatever reason, we are recruiting better overall. And in team golf, it isnt about having a super player. It is about depth. Heck, we had one year that we had the ACC champion and the team did not even qualify for regionals. That should never happen. But that was the history of NC State golf

Today is the perfect example. This is a quality field for a mid year college tournament. Our worst score of the day was even par today. All five of our players are in the top 35 in this tournament. That is why we are doing so well. And the difference between this team and years past.

Press was a homerun hire. He was extraordinarily popular on the junior circuits while at ECU and brought in some kids that really had no business ending up in Greenville otherwise.

Sykes' recruiting philosophy was....interesting.

Love seeing the golf team playing so well. By far my favorite sport to play and follow after chasing the dream as a young guy trying to earn a scholarship in college. Love seeing what the guys are doing this year, keep it up!

WE WON. This was a great victory for golf team as it was a strong field. Ship also won individual honors again by birdies on two of last three holes. Auburn second two shots out. They came in ranked between 4 and 7th

That is a very good win -- we actually trailed or were tied for much of the round, but those late birdies came in huge.
