The NC State gymnastics team recorded a 196.900 in its dual meet with LIU (193.100) on Saturday, tying the third-highest score in program history. The Wolfpack crossed the 49.000 threshold on all four events for the first time this season.
Two of NC State's event scores checked into the top 10 in NC State history. The squad's 49.200 on vault tied for the 10th-highest score in program history while the 49.275 on bars tied for the ninth-highest.
On vault, freshmen
Carina Jordan and
Madison Benson each recorded career-high marks. Jordan posted a 9.800, and Benson followed her in the lineup with a 9.825. Sophomore
Emily Shepard tied her career-best 9.900 to take the individual title. She has scored a 9.900 three times on the event during the 2021 season. Fellow sophomore
Chloe Negrete posted a 9.850, and the rotation was anchored by senior
Olivia Hunter's 9.825. Hunter competed on the event for the second time of her career and the first time in Reynolds Coliseum.
Jordan set another career high on bars, earning a 9.875 in the leadoff position. Senior
Kasey Nelson also tabbed a career best in the event with a 9.825, and senior
Lauren Kent put up a season-high 9.875. Fellow senior
Katie Cox posted a 9.800 on the event; she has not posted lower than a 9.800 on bars during 2021 action. Shepard tabbed her third-straight 9.900 on the apparatus to claim first place.
On beam, the Wolfpack posted a 49.175. Nelson led off with a 9.800, tying her season high. Junior
Kailin Foland, a consistent part of NC State's beam lineup all season, earned a career-best 9.850. Shepard and Negrete tied for the individual title on the event, eaching posting a 9.875.
NC State's final event of the day was floor, and the team compiled a 49.300. Jordan posted her third career high of the day with a 9.875, and Cox recorded a 9.800. Benson earned a career-best 9.850, and Nelson earned a 9.825. Negrete posted a career best of 9.950 on floor, tying the third-best score in NC State history on the event.
Shepard competed in the all-around, putting together a 39.425 that was her fifth 39.0 score of the season.

UP NEXTNC State turns its attention to the postseason, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., for the 2021 EAGL Championship meet. The Wolfpack will compete at either 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. based on the final National Qualifying Score (NQS) rankings in the league.
