The NC State gymnastics team posted a season-best 196.125 on Friday, competing against Oklahoma (197.475), George Washington (193.600) and William & Mary (189.450).

NC State led off the night on vault and posted its second-highest score of the season with a 48.950. Freshman Madison Benson tied her career best with a 9.800 while sophomore Emily Shepard tied her career high on the event, tying for the individual title with a 9.900. Chloe Negrete rounded out NC State's vault rotation with a 9.825.

On bars, the Wolfpack recorded its highest score of 2021 with a 49.125. Carina Jordan got the team off to a strong start with a 9.800 while Gabrielle Diaz posted a career-high 9.775. Katie Cox tied her career-high on 9.875 bars, and Shepard also posted a 9.875. Junior Meredith Robinson closed out the rotation for NC State with a 9.800.

Cox and Shepard tied for second place on the event with Oklahoma's Olivia Trautman.

The Wolfpack compiled a strong performance on beam for the second consecutive week as it tabbed a 48.850. Negrete led the way for the team on the event, posting a 9.800.

On floor, Shepard earned her second 9.900 of the night that was good for a second-place finish. Nicole Webb tabbed a 9.850 while Negrete posted a 9.825. Freshman Madison Benson set a career best in the event with a 9.825, and Jordan posted a 9.800. NC State tabbed a 49.200 on floor, its highest rotation score of the night.

The Wolfpack's lone all-around competitor was Shepard, and the sophomore had a career-best night with a 39.450. She claimed the all-around individual title by half a point.

"Coming in here tonight for the quad meet against Oklahoma, GW and William & Mary, this team was excited," said head coach Kim Landrus. "From the very beginning of the competition you could see the excitement shine through.

"If there was a small mistake, they rallied and it was like it never happened. We built on the routine before, we built from event to event. The momentum just kept climbing. I couldn't be more proud of them. This is exciting for them, and I am confident they will use this as another building block and continue to rise throughout the rest of the season."

The NC State gymnastics team continued 2021 competition on Saturday, posting its highest score of the season in a 196.200. The Wolfpack competed against North Carolina (195.000) and Temple (194.825).

The Wolfpack took or tied for the individual title on all four events in addition to the all-around competition

NC State kicked off the meet on vault, posting a team score of 48.825. Sophomore Chloe Negrete paced the Wolfpack on the event with a 9.850 and was followed in the scoring by fellow sophomore Emily Shepard's 9.800. Negrete's mark was good for the individual title on the event while Shepard tied for third.

The team continued its strong season on bars with a team score of 49.125, tying its season-high. Carina Jordan posted a 9.825 in the leadoff position on the event, and Shepard took home the individual title in the event with a career best-tying 9.900. The Olathe, Kan., native has earned a 9.900 on the apparatus at three meets in the 2021 season.

Senior Katie Cox tabbed a second-place finish with a career high-tying 9.875. Cox has posted a 9.875 for three straight meets and earned a second-place finish at all three of those meets. Senior Lauren Kent made her first appearance for NC State in the 2021 season at the meet, tying for third place on bars with a 9.850.

The Wolfpack posted its highest beam score of the season, a 49.150. All six members of the squad's beam lineup scored at least a 9.800. Kailin Foland tied her career high with a 9.800, and Cox and Kasey Nelson each posted a 9.800 as well. Shepard, Negrete and Nicole Webb each tabbed a 9.850 that tied them for the individual title.

On floor, Jordan tied her career-best 9.825 in the leadoff spot and was followed by Madison Benson's 9.800. Shepard posted a 9.825 and Negrete tabbed a 9.875 that was good to tie her for first place. As a team, NC State recorded a 49.100.

Shepard took the all-around title for the second consecutive meet, compiling a 39.375.

"Today was all about taking advantage of opportunities, and the team really embraced that concept," said head coach Kim Landrus. "After warm-ups, we talked about dialing in, and from beginning to end these ladies were dialed in.

"I couldn't be more proud. We built throughout the meet, and the details were there. As we head into March and April, we're going to keep really attacking those details."

The NC State gymnastics team is set for an away meet at East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent New Hampshire Saturday, Mar. 6 at 4 p.m. The matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams in 2021.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire ranks fourth in the EAGL with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 194.981. The Wildcats' highest score of the season is a 195.350 that came in a tri-meet at LIU with Towson. The team has at least one gymnast ranked individually in the top five of the EAGL on vault, beam, floor and all-around.

The NC State gymnastics team competed in its final road meet of the season on Saturday, tabbing a 195.850 at East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent New Hampshire. The Wildcats recorded a season-high 196.125.

Vault saw a pair of 9.800 scores for members of the Wolfpack as freshman Madison Benson and sophomore Chloe Negrete earned the mark. Negrete has earned at least a 9.800 on vault in every meet of 2021 and has posted a 9.850 for the last two meets.

Sophomore Emily Shepard was the highest-scoring member of the team on the event with a 9.850, tying for second place. As a squad, NC State put up a 48.925.

The Wolfpack led off the meet on bars and continued its strong season on the apparatus with a 48.750. Senior Katie Cox posted a 9.800 while Shepard scored her second consecutive 9.900 on the event, tying her career high and earning her the individual title. The sophomore has earned a 9.900 on the apparatus in four of NC State's eight meets.

Beam was the team's last event of day, and NC State set a new season-best mark with a 49.175. Shepard posted a career-best 9.900 on the apparatus that tied her for first place, and Negrete tabbed a 9.875 for the second-straight meet.

Nicole Webb tied her career high on the event as well with a 9.875 while Katie Cox scored a 9.800.

On floor, Carina Jordan led off with a 9.800 and has posted at least a 9.800 on the event in NC State's last three meets.

Negrete and Shepard earned NC State's highest scores in the event, each tabbing a 9.850 and tying with one another for third place. The Wolfpack compiled a 49.000 on the event and has recorded at least a 49.000 on floor in five meets in 2021.

Shepard was NC State's lone all-around competitor, and the sophomore recorded her best all-around score of the season with a 39.500. The mark was good for first place at the meet and ties her for the eighth-best all-around mark in program history.

"Words cannot express how proud I am of this team's performance today," said head coach Kim Landrus. "From start to finish they fought, they performed, they exuded confidence. The amount of standout performances are many. We always talk about the details, and they attacked those today.

"To end the meet on beam, the way they did, shows such grit, purpose and perseverance. I have no doubt that today has better prepared them for postseason."
