NC State Falls In Home Opener Against Duke
RALEIGH After a scoreless opening period, the NC State men's soccer team (0-3-0, 0-3-0 ACC) and Duke (2-2-0, 2-1-0 ACC) combined for four goals in an exciting second half of action, with the Blue Devils coming away with the 3-1 victory on Friday evening.

The junior headed the ball from 12 yards out, and it went looping into the upper right corner of the goal to beat Duke goalkeeper Will Pulisic.
Duke scored its first two goals in a less than 10-minute span to jump out to the 2-0 advantage. Freshman Lewis McGarvey put away a header off of a free kick by Matthias Frick in the 60th minute, and Jack Doran doubled the Blue Devils' lead in the 68th minute as he finished on another free kick, this time a low rolling ball from just outside the box by Nick Pariano.
The Blue Devils then added some cushion in the 87th minute as Daniel Wright ripped a deflected ball through traffic for the squad's third goal of the evening.
NC State goalkeeper Leon Krapf made a pair of critical saves to keep things scoreless in the first half, and he tallied a total of three saves on the night.
The Wolfpack will continue its three-match home stretch on Sunday, Oct. 18 when it welcomes Navy to Raleigh. That non-conference matchup is set to kick off at 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium, with live streaming coverage provided by ACCNX.
