I understand the sentiment, which is why the NCAA should have let the schools start paying players directly and held them to a salary cap. It would likely have kept the lawsuits for NIL at bay for a while. But, with NIL the NCAA has no say what so ever in how it is managed or executed - this opened up as a result of a court ruling, not some NCAA decision. Any attempts to restrict or control this could be viewed as violating the courts decision, so I imagine they will stay out of it.WolvesWinNow said:
I think the other side of NIL is also starting to show. While schools keep players with insane NIL deals (UNC, Miami, etc) you will see schools push NIL deals to players to get players to stay away from certain schools. Just like free agency in pro sports. Make an insane offer to a player to push the price tag of a player up and there by push a rival out of the bidding war. Until the NCAA puts a cap on NIL deals tied to inflation/COLA, creates a minimum length of service to a school (say 3 years or the player has to pay back the NIL if he wants to leave earlier), this crap is going to continue to be out of control. The non-blue blood schools will be feeder schools to the blue bloods, g-league, OTE and NBA. College basketball will be on a death spiral. If nothing is done, at that point the non-blue blood schools will be better off turning their basketball program into a subsidiary run like a pro team and get a license fee for using the schools name and brand. Players signed through mega deals, they can attend the university or not, contractually obligated to play for a set period of time and can be cut at any time just like the pro's.
The NCAA's best weapon to try to regulate this is to get rid of the No sit transfer rule. Would keep kids from leaving just to try to secure a better nil deal.WolvesWinNow said:
Thanks I knew about the court decision but didn't realize it took it completely out of the NCAA's hands. If it continues to be unregulated in any meaningful way it really is the end of college sports and you are looking at a semi-pro league.
Disappointing. Definitely didn't like having our hopes ride on KK convincing a kid, that is probably doing the right thing for himself personally by staying away from this area/Durham, to come back home and play for us.Wywolf said:

Wow, would definitely take! Shot almost 39% from 3 on almost 6 attempts per game last year. Career 38.5% 3p shooter. About 6 rebounds per game.

Seabron? Went from 5ppg to 17ppg. ACC Most Improved Player. CJ Bryce and Markell Johnson are two other guys that improved statistically season to season. And I would say Hellems developed over the course of his career at State:
5ppg, 32% from 3
10ppg, 33% from 3
13ppg, 38% from 3
14ppg, 39% from 3
1st Team All-CAA selection Cam Holden is returning to Towson! He had previously entered the portal. He’ll look to lead the Tigers back to the big dance in 2023 for the first time in 32 years. 🐯 https://t.co/rONhDOXJct

You can add Gantt to that list though he may be more of a 3-4 hybrid. I think Ross and Gantt(assuming both are healthy) get the majority of the minutes at the 4WolvesWinNow said:

Not sure, I assumed that to be the case but who knows. I feel like theres a lot of mystery around his injury for some reasonTheStorm said:Gantt finally back up to full speed now?WolfpackSI said:You can add Gantt to that list though he may be more of a 3-4 hybrid.
