James, thanks again to you and the IPS team for having The Water Cooler on the site for the past eight plus years, and for allowing it to be a true free speech forum for non-sports topics. Of course I recognize that it is completely up to you to decide whether to have a forum like this on the site, but I would really hate to see it closed down. I don't know all of the factors that go into your decision, but as Cary mentioned above please consider all of the paying users who may visit the site primarily to post in The Water Cooler...and may leave and/or cancel membership without it. Of course, I'm not making any kind of "threat" or anything by saying that...but just pointing out the reality.

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I'm ready to see the WC go away as well... it's pretty much run it's course here as far as I am concerned, and I'm not going to commiserate about it whatsoever if James decides to get rid of it.

Each to their own. I find it intellectually stimulating and have thought so for the last seven plus years. I didn't subscribe initially for it, but I have a feeling I'll find my subscription experience significantly more hollow in its absence. But again, I'll have ten months to make that decision, so….so be it, come what may. One thing is for sure, no one on the sports board will ever be able to tell another poster "take it to the WC".

Pretty sure both sides can have these discussions without referring to the other side as morons, POS, Commies, Nazi, Marxist, or any of the other names that get tossed out in some discussions. And yes, it is both sides. It's pretty much the name calling that has caught James attention. It's ok to attack the post but not the poster. And I'm pretty sure James doesn't respond to some DM's is because he has around a hundred in his inbox most times. And me personally I don't text him about anything on the forums. It's usually about something related to Athletics or rumors I'm hearing.
