I've never seen a military man go into politics and keep their good reputation and character, with the possible exception of Jeremiah Denton, who served one term in the Senate, then walked away in disgust. The three Johns (McCain, Glenn, and Kerry) exemplify this well. Though in the case of Kerry, he was rotten to begin with, a true PX warrior who used the military to punch a ticket, and got out as fast as he could. As for McCain, I bet there are those here who didn't praise him when he ran against Obama as they do now.packgrad said:
Meh. Probably poor taste but McCain voted against repealing Obamacare, which is what was being referenced. I'm sure you are outraged by it. To me it's a nothingburger, and I voted for McCain years ago. I bet you didn't. But now you like the memory of him because of your TDS.

Trump definitely has false accusers. Especially now that so many have TDS like civ they would line up for it. Unlike civ, I'm not a neutered man that can't admit that women do in fact lie.

Really? Women sometimes lie? What a clear-eyed and courageous beacon of truth you are.

We know Trump cheats on his wives, pays off porn stars and Playboy bunnies he bangs, brags about grabbing women by the *****, makes gross sex jokes about his own daughter, would routinely walk through the changing room at his beauty pageants, and was found civilly liable of sex assault.
But for some reason despite that clear pattern of known misogynistic behavior we should believe all of his 20-odd accusers are Democratic plants, and none of them are actual victims of sex assault.
Makes total sense.

Yes, John McCain was captured and held in a prison. I hate it for him! Hell, we have people, in a prison, for 3 years, because on January 6th.Civilized said:

That the right so willing, eager, even to let a medical issue personally affecting .008% of kids age 12-17 to so consistently enter the conversation in the runup to the election illustrates perfectly how the right continues to step on their own dick electorally.
Our country would be a helluva lot better off if the Trump-worshiping and Trump-adjacent right was as concerned with preserving democracy and participating in sensible health care legislation for 100% of the country as they were dictating medical decisions affecting an infintesimally small proportion of teenage children.
Were the messages sent in 2018 and 2020 and 2022 that the right's pet culture war causes are not election winners not enough? Gonna keep riding the drag queen and trans surgeries and locker room issues straight into the ground, huh?
At this point the right throwing their weight behind Haley is as sure a bet as you can have that Biden won't win. Trump may win but distracting the conversation with abortion and trans kids is not going to help you get there at all.

I think pragmatically that non-reversible medical procedures to treat gender dysphoria in teens is inadvisable if there is any conceivable alternative and incredibly fraught, regardless.
But if your kids was affected, gender dysphoric and in extreme emotional distress and potentially suicidal despite the intense care of therapists and psychiatrists and the rest of their medical team, do you think the government should step in to prevent care?
I can't even imagine the anguish of the kid or the parent in that situation. There are zero easy answers but I'm pretty sure the answer we don't want as parents is the government outlawing the medical care that could potentially save my child.
