#Blindmice love them some big taxes and big Blue states!
They'll find a way to blame Trump
It's not Trump's fault, it's just a totally misleading clickbait headline.
Morton was purchased in 2021 and quickly started restructuring and reorganizing, as per usual when new owners move in. It's not like this was some surprise move based on a recent or specific Pritzker tax increase.
And anyway, we're now (or certainly should be) way past the point of waving around "tax cuts" or "low taxes" as some virtue, given the glaring massive deficit and debt problem that Repbulicans' decades-old and well-worn cutting-taxes-but-still-spending "strategy" creates.
nah man, we gotta grow our way out of it instead of doing the hard work on entitlements.
The "hard work" of convincing grandma to eat cat food and convincing large swaths of the country to be happy without health care. Just like the good ol' days.
Magic beans!
Buddy, the amount of wealth transfer and protection that has been afforded to Boomers is unprecedented. Grandma is far from eating cat food.
Stop with the fear mongering, it has to happen, it's going to have to be a combination of cuts and tax increases at this point. But continuing to ignore the issue isn't going to solve the problem. That's the magic beans.
No doubt Boomers are rolling in it compared to other generations, but I think that has a lot more to do with the many "Great Society" benefits they took advantage of to build wealth before tearing them out and pocketing the tax breaks. "The Greediest Generation".
This does come across a bit like gaslighting, given that fear mongering about entitlements has been a Republican strategy since Reagan. "Starving the Beast" was the name they gave it... continuously cut taxes until it creates a crises, then using that crises as an excuse to gut the entitlements they've always philisophically hated. Bonus points for how this game hobbles Dem administrations. How about let's restore the insane tax cuts first and then we can talk about it?
Anyway, Social Security isn't connected to our federal deficit at all anyway... it's a separate pile of money. If we do nothing it'll still pay 80+% of benefits... it can't go "bankrupt". If we get rid of the stupid cap and let the wealthy pay into the system it'll look even better. So preemptively cutting it to "save" it seems like a silly idea.
Medicare is the deficit problem. And yeah, as far as I can tell your solution is for old and poor people to have less health care. Am I missing something?
