A cost overrun for a privately funded limited source for a public need picked up by public funding is plausible and it's being discloses. That ballroom, as demonstrated with recent events,makes sense as security for our POTUS and large executive branch events.

It's worth mentioning to everyone, left or right, that the term "gerrymander", as it was originally defined, doesn't apply to many states in this century, blue or red, which have geographically sensible drawn congressional districts, strictly aside from the consideration as to whether or not they were drawn for political advantage (usually, they are). The last time that NC had a true gerrymandered map was the one the Dems drew in 2001. The old 13th district exemplifies this, it looked like a fishing lure with a string of rural Virginia border counties with "hooks" hanging down south into the Democrat urban strongholds.

Yes, I stand corrected....the term 'gerrymander' refers to creating congressional district maps for political advantage.

These NE states, for example, look to be more 'gerrymandered' than - certainly - Tennessee.

It could be argued that Ca is currently gerrymandered, but here's an example of California further redistricted to gerrymander in similar fashion to what VA attempted.
