The most recent renewal (continuation) of the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13848 occurred on September 3, 2025.

EO 13848, issued by President Trump on September 12, 2018, declared a national emergency regarding the threat of foreign interference in or undermining public confidence in U.S. elections. Under the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), such emergencies automatically terminate after one year unless the President publishes a notice in the Federal Register and transmits it to Congress stating that it will continue.

This has been done annually by subsequent administrations (Trump, Biden, and the current one), typically in early September to extend it beyond the September 12 anniversary date. The 2025 continuation notice explicitly states that the emergency "must continue in effect beyond September 12, 2025" and extends it for one year (through September 12, 2026).

Prior continuations include:
- September 9, 2024 (extending beyond September 12, 2024).
- September 7, 2023 (extending beyond September 12, 2023).
- And similar annual notices in earlier years (e.g., 2021, 2022).

I'll confess to not know how this all ends up in Military Tribunals, but when it does, I suspect other names come back into the discussion. Names like Sydney Powell, Jeff Sessions, John Huber and Victoria Toensing will join the name, Joe DiGenova.

I highly doubt your example and others like it 3/4 of all grants awarded in the past.

Point being this genie isn't going back in the bottle and real scientific research is seeing more negative affects daily

After nearly a quarter century at NIH, I know it like Gravis knows NCSU sports. I've seen a ton of corruption in that time. The bisphenol-A controversy as an example, stemmed from the fact that a renegade grants management specialist was trading taxpayer money to his chosen outside researchers in return for his name in their authorship lines, despite the fact that this guy didn't meet NIH authorship criteria. And it's no secret that huge amounts of taxpayer money was doled out to Fauci's clique and that's far from the only thing that's gone wrong over the years at NIH. Just because a bunch of publish-or-perish desperados have to work harder to justify NIH funding and many can't any longer meet the threshold, doesn't mean this Harvard person's insinuations have merit.

Then clean up the corruption, don't take a hatchet to a minuscule portion of the federal budget that funds programs that actually produce benefits for society. What's the real percentage of grants issued that are suspect as you describe? 1-2%? That's still better than the majority of federal money spent.

This is a perfect encapsulation of why I have so much disdain for the federal government in general. The Biden administration blocked the merger with JetBlue only to have the Trump admin swoop in with a bail out. Two terrible decisions from two different administrations that leave the tax payers holding the bag
