This law also has an 150 day limit without Congress extending and he still is going to have to refund the previously illegal tariffs.

But tariffs are about the only policy that Trump actually believes in so he's going to keep throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks.

The sad irony is that his profound belief in something that has never worked previously, and is showing zero signs of working in the present, is why businesses are so spooked and investment is down.

When as an executive in charge of policy, you're totally irrational, impulsive, erratic, and unable to process through information in a way that isn't completely detached from reality, businesses and allies get spooked.

That uncertainty inhibits hiring, investing, building, and spending, which is exactly what we've seen with the last year+ of poor economic performance.

Being that the courts say he can put an embargo on countries, then that's what I would do with China and any country that manufactures something where raw goods come out of China.

Put an embargo on them. That will change the way the world operates. Any product on the sea can come in; however, any product on purchase orders, not yet on the sea, well… good luck!

The only thing I would be concerned about are pharmaceuticals.

At the ports, all products should have origin of all manufacturing, not just the origin of final assembly. Damn near all goods coming in would be on an embargo. Yes, we would shut down the economy. For me, I think the juice would be worth the squeeze.

Aside from this court's highly flexible legal doctrine that has mastered ignoring black letter law, obvious constitutional intentions, and even it's own precedents as needed to achieve a goal, not to mention handing the President unlimited power to punish his enemies (preventing most companies from even being willing to bring lawsuits), one of the main vehicles for this court's corruption is delay.

There was nothing to "decide" in this case. It was transparently illegal nonsense. They put a stay in place that allowed the tariffs to continue for a year because "deference to the president" was more important to them than potential harm to the global and domestic economy, a courtesy they strangely forgot with the previous president.

If a president can be allowed to exercise transparently illegal and highly consequential dictatorial powers for a year, then we are no longer living in a functional constitutional system.
