https://amp.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/article317501441.html"Republican leaders of the General Assembly have called members back to Raleigh on Wednesday to, in the words of House Speaker Destin Hall, "tackle rising fuel prices and deliver real relief for North Carolina families, farmers, and businesses." Lawmakers have announced that they will look at suspending the state tax on fuels.
In a statement late Monday, NCDOT said it is "aware and monitoring discussions on suspending the state's motor fuels tax." It said the fuels tax accounts for about 40% of the department's state-generated income and that a 30-day pause would cost NCDOT about $225 million if lawmakers didn't provide money to make up for it."
And just a couple years ago, NC republicans said this:
"If President Biden is serious about easing the burden on working families he should re-evaluate his administration's policies that have led to surging prices at the gas pump," the statement said. "Instead of these temporary gimmicks, we should focus on permanent, long-term tax relief and reining in inflation."
Hypocrits through and through. No spine at all. The economy is doing fine!
