It's positively wild how angry some people on here are, at total strangers, for no good reason.
And how they attack those strangers with personal insults online because they have a different political opinion.
This is a message board. It's not real life. We talking 'bout practice. Practice, man.
I'll never get it.
Ok, take a look at your boy Smapty…. He is full-on personal insults with people he thinks is beneath him, intellectually. Just ask him…
Civ has the patience of Job. Me not so much. I try, but I'm more than happy to point out when someone is a rage-filled moron spewing demonic, anti-American opinions and blindly nodding along to obvious cons.
Unfortunately I get daily opportunities around here.
So, who do you equate that opinion with?
That's easy. Everybody but Civ... he even torches hokie whenever he slightly steps out of line.
No, I've never "torched" Hokie. We disagree on a lot of things, but he's one of the few conservatives on here (there are a small handful) that actually just debates ideas like an adult.
Unfortunately the majority of you guys are emotionally and intellectually stunted and are clearly unable to debate anything. Hilariously you think Hokie is a lefty (not even close) exactly because he's able to think about things for himself and doesn't just fling crap.
Back in the good ol' days when a person didn't actually have a clue they just kept their head down, because they didn't want to look stupid. But not you guys! You're in a constant state of reading a tweet that's "awful, if true" (hint: they're never true), and then raging about it at the top of your lungs. For the sake of the country, you deserve all of the condescension that can possibly be heaped on you.
Curious why you do not just keep your head down?
Just for reference, what you were attempting to debate me on you had no clue. You were just doing inter web searches. I posted numerous times you are embarrassing yourself but you did not "put your head down", you continued to look stupid.
I am an expert on the topic you tried to debate me on. I lecture at universities about it (including NC State). I have published on the topic. I do a couple conferences a year where I speak about the topic.
So again, I am cureioius why you did not just keep your head down?
Ugh, this again? Lol, oh now you're a renowned expert on the topic? You were making a lot of ludicrous assertions for a renowned expert. I'm still trying to figure out how you don't consider your own consulting services "pure waste".
Not one of my facts (not assertions) were ludicrous. I was an expert when you were trying to debate. Why I kept on telling you you are embarrassing yourself. You knew absolutlety nothing more than what you were looking up on the internet. It was obvious, but you did not keep your head down. Why?
I never claimed to be an expert on Lean or whatever it is you're an "expert" in, but I have endless experience with consultants like yourself who get certified in some magical system and sell it to companies to cure what ails them. Without fail they're usually about 20% useful grains of truth, 80% jargon and nonsense. You helpfully proved the rule yet again, so thanks for that.
Sorry man, but this time you're wrong. Cthepack does know what he's talking about.
Lol, didn't this entire conversation get started because he insisted that companies that don't eat tariffs are losers who haven't successfully applied his waste-reducing brilliance? I don't recall you thinking he knows what he's talking about.
I don't agree 100% with how he approaches tariffs and what that means for different manufacturers, but as far as how he has described his process, it's in line with what is really the best practices for manufacturing efficiency, and I'm not going to question his bonafides on that.
We can leave Cthepack's acumen at his day job completely out of it.
The broader point is that companies across industries and on scale can't or won't eat tariffs.
That's simply not a rational probable outcome, given the totality of contrary evidence out there.
I got involved in the conversation when it was assumed prices will go up to maintain profit margins. I told you guys you are missing the third piece of the equation, cost.
I do not agree with the tariffs except for with China. But do not mind trying some things when you are the biggest economy by far.
Companies are lazy as are most CEOs. I can not remember ever saying any company is bad. You all are extrapolating my comment of a good company looking after their customer taking those that do not as bad. Lazy yes but not bad.
You quoted numbers back 160 to 200 years. Significant structured cost reduction has really only happened in the last 30 to 40 years. I am so busy working with companies that are looking to flank their comp I have not been home since mid august. So I think more companies than you think are taking the approach of trying their best not to invoke price increases.
Obviously I do not know you or hokie but what I do know is that the construction industry is a cost plus system. It's acceptable to pass on costs to the customer.
