Why is there a tone of research talent at Duke, NC State, and UNC?
- Because all three Universities compete and secure $100's of millions of dollars of research grants - public and private every year! Then that talent works in those labs, graduate, and become workers at these drug making facilities.
But wait, I thought the Universities were stealing money from the Federal Government, how is it possible that $100's of millions of federal grants that these Universities receive turn into Billions in economic impact to the Triangle?

All in all, pretty good investment that has had an extreme benefit to the State of NC. And to think, we're going to piss it all away in this state because we can't see the big picture.
Now, name just one that does actually manufacture in North Carolina. GlaxoSmithKline used to in Zebulon (I believe); however, that place only does a shell of what it used to do.
Hokie, the vast majority of the compounds, for drugs, supposedly manufactured, here in the States, come from other places. China was a big participant of those compounds (I'm not sure where it stands today).
So, when you say the manufacturing is done here in NC, make sure you are clear what that means.
