Good for them, not every company is going to be able to do that though.

I'm not eating a 5% increase in door security devices and fire alarm devices, I'm just increasing my estimate.

Hokie, that's the company the employs me! BTW, yes, every company can do that. We had a will, then we made a way.

where do you guys fit?

No, every company very clearly cannot do that.

The companies that can and will are fortunate and are operating on higher margins than agriculture, basic manufacturing, commoditized retail, and many other lower-margin industries. Luxury goods, specialized tech, others have more cushion.

My electrician that runs two three man crews in a competitive labor landscape isn't eating copper price increases. He's just not. He can't. He doesn't have the size or the margin. There are thousands of other companies like him that can't or won't.

This argument about "good companies will eat costs and bad companies won't" is untethered from economic and practical realities.

Good companies offset the costs and avoid passing them to the customer. Good for a lot of reasons, but one is they are thinking long term. They offset cots by eliminating waste. I know your company has no waste but most have over 80% of what they do as waste. Lazy companies just pass it on to the consumer. The consumer is also lazy by accepting the additional price.

Want to talk about economic realities, both you and Hokie said that inflation had not increased due to companies stock piling inventory. Deep dive into that. What you both are saying is that suppliers were able to increase output basically overnight meaning they had a lot more "Supply". Basic economics is based on supply and demand. If supply is high prices should decrease. Meaning that the supply (capacity) being there should mean we are paying more than we should for products.

The best thing about the "controversy" is the backpedaling of the liberals. And that you're still mad that CB customers did not like the change. Hilarious.

Exactly.

MAGA is mad the old country fella isn't on the logo anymore because that's woke, somehow.

That's the whole point.

Except...the old country fella wasn't on the original logo either.

Your people have set quite the precedent with the Redskins, Indians, uncle Ben's, Aunt Jemima, etc. so I completely understand people with a vested interest not liking the new logo. I get the incessant willful ignorance by the Dems to not understand the Cracker Barrel patrons opinions as the goal is always to own the right, but most importantly to own MAGA!!!!!

But MAGA won again. Good guys FTW.

What does an old dude on a logo have to do with MAGA?

Exactly. Why did you have to bring MAGA into it?

Why was it important to the white woman CEO to remove the old white man from the logo is the better question.

Because I have eyes and ears and MAGA is obviously who's mad.

The CEO wanted to rebrand to modernize. Companies have to try to stay relevant and many refresh their branding as a component of that. Evidently some people (MAGA) care for some reason (that no one can coherently articulate) that an old dude got deleted from a logo.

Can you explain why deleting the old dude was woke?

Once we get massive tariffs on copper imports, you all will have to source domestically. Exactly what would've been happening if both Political parties didn't buy (well accept bribes) into the whole globalization boondoggle.

now, you are subjected to the whims of a Politician, as opposed to owning your business direction…

Just the standard whitewashing from Dems. Cracker Barrel patrons didn't support it. I think we've all seen how you all have done this in the past with, again, the redskins, Indians, uncle Ben's, Aunt Jemima, and tried with Bud Light. I enjoy the faux ignorance about it. But the way it has made you and your 2 buddies so mad makes me think the lefties are far more triggered than MAGA about all of this. You're so concerned about Cracker Barrel's ability to modernize and refresh their branding!!! Lolololol. Such incredible bull***** Godalmighty.

I don't give two ****s about what private companies do with their branding. It's a closed loop. They live and die by their marketing/branding decisions and other business practices. They can do whatever they think is best. And consumers can respond accordingly.

I do think it's hilarious that the MAGA anti-woke radar is so miscalibrated that it fires off when an old man gets deleted from a logo though. Evidently old men are victims now too.

Just the standard whitewashing from Dems. Cracker Barrel patrons didn't support it. Assuming you are a white man, and over 40, you want some sort of vindication of your victim status? Because, that's wild man, calling people snowflakes in one post and complaining that white males over 40 are victims of domestic politics.

And I agree with you that the DEI stuff was way out of control and really bad long term. I am your victim advocate packgrad. You shouldn't attack me so much.

I never gave a **** about the logo either for some reason...

I've never disliked eating at a Cracker Barrel, but I probably haven't been to one in maybe 10 years now... kids are grown and out on their own, and my wife and I don't have parents and inlaws to have to drive all over the state to visit anymore, etc.

My life is just different overall, and there are so many other options of places to eat without any wait (yes, I know that is why they had the store to walk around and shop in).

I do get a kick out of Civ trying to compare a logo that was in place for ~8 years here and gone definitely before he was even born, to one that had been in place for the last 48 years... but that is neither here, nor there - that's just Civ being Civ.

*I was intrigued by their recent "camp fire meals" commercials, but never acted upon that thought.

I guess I'll stick my neck out and take a stab at this...

I only really watch news on TV anymore for the weather, but I do tend to leave the TV on in the background while I am working usually on Spectrum... so far, I haven't heard the words "White Supremacist" yet - or even anything about the shooter at all (except his name that I just heard right now as I type this).

Since the mainstream news isn't saying much so far, I think I know how this is going to turn out...

I think I saw it mentioned he/she/it gave a white supremacist "salute" on one of its YouTube videos that's not available for us to see. I don't know how the author saw the video but the rest of us can't?

We all know how this is going to be framed to fit the narrative. Wash, rinse and repeat.

Good for them, not every company is going to be able to do that though.

Once we get massive tariffs on copper imports, you all will have to source domestically. Exactly what would've been happening if both Political parties didn't buy (well accept bribes) into the whole globalization boondoggle.

now, you are subjected to the whims of a Politician, as opposed to owning your business direction…

lol domestic copper. Let me just go build a smelting plant.

Just did a google search and this came up in their AI response…

Copper mining in the US is concentrated in the western states, particularly Arizona, which produces roughly 70% of the nation's copper. While the US has significant copper reserves and domestic production, it imports about half of its refined copper, mainly from the Americas. Key players in US copper production include Freeport-McMoRan, Rio Tinto, and the Morenci and Kennecott mines.
