Hokie, I just copied and pasted all of your quotes pertaining to this war, since the announcement of the Trump, Putin meeting. I've also bolded the only points that could be perceived as a plan. What am I missing?

They are going to try to sell out Ukraine. Zelensky won't agree to it ( rightfully ) and then they will ( try to ) make him the villain instead of Putin. That is the definition of capitulation. And why do we have the right to give away Ukraine without approval from Ukraine?

I thought you guys were all about isolationism.

It is good to know that this afternoon, I can go beat up my neighbor and claim the side yard as my territory and get away with it.

how about we ask the Ukrainians what they want to do? It's their country. Why is the US forcing them into defeat? Ukraine is not the country specifically targeting civilians. They didn't invade Russia.

Indeed two possibilities:

1. Bleed Russia until they've had enough

2. This war continues until Ukraine has had enough.

Until then, I am in favor of allowing Ukraine to control their country. .

The argument that the US shouldn't be funding arms is no longer relevant after passing the BBB and crushing the budget deficit. The administration can't have their cake and eat it too.

I remember an America that was the shining beacon on the hill that stood for freedom and taught for the little guy. Not sure where that America retreated to.

it means when you invade a sovereign country and you can't defeat them and target the civilian population to demoralize them, you get what ever is coming to you casualties wise.

the same way we handled it when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and targeted the civilian population

feel free to educate yourself
https://a.co/d/4BpN5Gn

yeah, I know you're also smart enough to know that's not what I was talking about, but you just want to be obtuse

I have Cary numerous times you just choose to make any discussion difficult because I have to run through this gambit of questions that you know I know the answer to and your are doing it to disrespect whomever is trying to have a legitimate discussion. It's disingenuous and I'm tired of it.

I thought at least had some respect from you but clearly that's eroded to now so I'm done here.

So go hi five everyone, you win.

For hokie:

Ukrainian Support for War Effort Collapses

https://news.gallup.com/poll/693203/ukrainian-support-war-effort-collapses.aspx

- - - -
"Most Ukrainians now favor ending the war with Russia through negotiations, as support for fighting until victory has dropped sharply since the early days of the conflict"

"In Gallup's most recent poll of Ukraine conducted in early July 69% say they favor a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible"

So now hokie should be fine with President Trump negotiating an end to the war?

You think most Ukranians are for a negotiating end to the war, with Trump and Putin "negotiating" and Ukraine not having a consequential seat at the table?

And laying down for Putin isn't negotiating. Like Smapty has said, "negotiation" implies both sides giving up stuff, and getting stuff.

What is Russia giving up, and what is Ukraine getting?

I watched your President Trump's news conference today. He said he and Putin would talk and after he would immediately call Z to discuss the talks with him. He also said he would get Putin and Z together in the same room shortly after.

How do you or anyone else know what is going on the the negotiations? We don't but youand Smapty WANT to assume the worst because you simply hate Trump more than you want to see a bloody war end.

I could be wrong but I believe there are discussions about both countries giving up land?

Try not to hyperventilate, like you do every time you hear the name Trump, and let it play out?

It's completely lost on you that this is the first war in living memory that you guys have endlessly wrung your hands over being a "bloody war". Why is that? You guys used to jerk off feverishly every time someone said the words "shock and awe". Most recently we were in a "bloody war" with Afghanistan for 20 years, a situation that was impossible to get out of cleanly... and when Biden said "screw it, we're doing it!" did you cheer? Yeah, no... we'd still be there if you had your way.

Oh, but now you just can't take all of this bloodshed in Ukraine! Gaza is fine, of course... do what they gotta do! But Ukraine trying to repel Putin's invasion just has to stop!

I spent the better part of three years in Afghanistan so KMA. I was fine with leaving that place, the mistake was to use Kabul vs. Bagram. Biden's administration totally messed up and 13 Marines were blown to pieces because of it.

Gaza should stop electing Hamas as their leadership and then I might start to care. Until then, go Israel!

Just admit you'd rather the war continue and see thousands more on each side die than give your President Trump any credit.

Get any credit...for what?

What is the bar Trump should have to clear with regard to outcomes for our strategic partner Ukraine in their conflict with our adversary Putin/Russia, in order to "get credit" for Ukraine?

Laugh about the Strategic Partner BS.

Dems love Nazis now.

Because Trump.

In that case, they've got a real problem. The Democratic Socialists just had their first convention where they affirmed Socialism over Fascism (no practical difference) and celebrating their taking control of the old Democrat party. When they tell it like they mean it before the American public, the results are apt to be epic.

To your last point, I just want to point out that my issue with Russia/Ukraine has zero to do with Trump and 100% to do with a desire to not let Putin get what he wants, with the tactics for which he has choosen to get to his ends.

I understand that position 100%. So, what would you suggest that could get both parties to end this war? If you need help, see my post above with your points…

1. Stop fellating Putin.
2. Put more sanctions on Russia and anyone who deals with them.
3. Create a coalition of unilateral support for Ukraine to remain as an independent nation
4. That coalition provides resources to Ukraine
5 flood the oil and gas market with supply and tank the prices.

I think number 1 shows your TDS
I support #2
they already have unilateral support, it's time for other countries to step up with real money and troops
the sanctions will hurt Russia, along with sanctions on countries that do business with them

so, basically, all of what you've said is part of Trumps plan, except for the TDS stuff. I'm glad you support what Trumps doing…

no, the first point is the mistake that every administration from W Bush to now has made. Remember that big ass reset button gimmick Hillary Clinton had? That's the Spider-Man meme with Trumps he's a reasonable guy schtick

I also didnt think America put a price on freedom, but I guess I'm wrong. So to help people not be eventually tortured and murdered by a despot dictator, we need to keep it under what, $500M?

….and I'll respectfully ask you again. In an earlier post you said let's ask the Ukrainian people what they want. Did you see the poll where 69% want to negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible?

Do you now (in a matter of hours) NOT want to ask the Ukrainian people what they want?

I don't have a number because there shouldn't be a number.

We're out here trusting polls now? Wild. Seriously, it depends on how the question was asked. I doubt the proposal that is on the table for Ukraine to eat **** and say thank you to Putin was the option they are voting for.

But 69% is a nice amount of Ukrainians.

Something I hope we all can appreciate

Trump Administration Stops Taxpayer Funded Animal Experiments

https://www.iglobenews.org/administration-stops-animal-experiments/
- - - - -

"President Trump ended four decades of taxpayer-funded beagle abuse. Donald Trump's love for animals is nothing new. In his first term he shut down the government's largest cat experimentation lab"

"White Coat Waste (WCW) exposed the NIH's facility of horrors in 2016. Using the US Freedom of Information Act, WCW uncovered grisly details of death and torture inside the NIH beagle lab, which was supported by Dr. Anthony Fauci. Some of the cruel experiments on man's best friend: throats slit open, lungs filled with pneumonia-causing bacteria and bodies bled out until septic shock took hold"

I also didnt think America put a price on freedom, but I guess I'm wrong. So to help people not be eventually tortured and murdered by a despot dictator, we need to keep it under what, $500M?

America has given $300 BILLION in support for Ukraine. How much more do you want to see given? Please, give me a number.

We're already bankrupting the country for much less of a mission, so ….

Bankrupting indeed. We've been sailing down the Niagara river of debt for many years now, through quite a few unheeded warnings. I won't blame the Ukraine war for that but only because the runaway spending would have continued on to our rapidly approaching cataract anyway, war or no war. Buyers of US debt have become rightly wary of it, making it harder to sell and forcing yields higher. Trump is going to try and grow our way out of this mess and for our sakes, not his, I wish him well but I think ever increasing inflation is waiting in the wings.

Until then, I am in favor of allowing Ukraine to control their country. .

Ukrainian Support for War Effort Collapses

If you were there for three years (and not just on the front lines of an air base mess hall), you'd know that Biden wasn't there directing troop movements. And the Generals that were there on the ground knew a hell of a lot more about the complexities of Bagram vs Kabul than armchair nitwits like you.

If Trump had managed to pull us out of a 20 year quagmire and only lost 13 marines total, you would have carved his face on Mt Rushmore right then and there. But that's what you guys do. If a Dem president does anything that he deserves credit for, it must always be twisted into a huge liability. I wonder how many soldiers and marines got "blown to pieces" during Trump's first 4 years when he didn't pull us out? Do you even know? Did Fox News bawl about that 24/7? Lol, please.

But yeah, I'll start caring about dead Russian troops when they aren't invading another sovereign European country. And what are we giving Trump credit for again? Aside from helping Russia, ratfu**ing Ukraine, and taking a massive crap on NATO, what has he accomplished so far?

I guess if I squint he gets credit for convincing Europe that the U.S. has switched sides (because we have), causing Germany to finally re-militarize. I suspect we're going to ultimately regret that one a lot, though.

I flew ISR (intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance) for the U.S.Army. Facial recognition and voice recognition. Biden was the President and the buck stops with him.

I said I'm fine with the withdrawal but it should have been from Bagram. Everything you need for such a movement. Two thick runways that support heavy traffic. Blast walls around a secure base. Fuel. Hospital. Internet coms. Plenty of housing. Chow facilities. Entry points where people could be search before entering (so they don't blow up 13 people) Etc.

Something Trump. Make believe and not in the real world. Something Fox News.

Do you care about dead Ukrainian troops? Do you care about dead Ukrainian civilians? Something Trump.

Hokie, the following is what I would do:

1) let everyone in the world know… this isn't our lawn to mow. Europe, you have a strategic interest in this war. The land mass is on your shoulders. It's your turn to figure this out.
2) I would have never sent money
3) since we did, under the previous admin, no more money
4) I will allow our defense contractors to sell anything they want to Ukraine or other European Natuon

outside of that, it's up to Europe to solve this…

5) yes, I would sanction Russia and any country buying from Russia until this is over. That said, sanctions really only work with the dollar as the world currency. If BRiCS really gets going, well…. We are in deeper trouble than we already are…

BTW, when I'm eating meat, and I think about what I'm doing, I stop. I get nauseous and can't eat. Again, I'm not an animal rights enthusiasts; however, I do have a soft spot in my heart for them.
