They are going to try to sell out Ukraine. Zelensky won't agree to it ( rightfully ) and then they will ( try to ) make him the villain instead of Putin. That is the definition of capitulation. And why do we have the right to give away Ukraine without approval from Ukraine?

I thought you guys were all about isolationism.

It is good to know that this afternoon, I can go beat up my neighbor and claim the side yard as my territory and get away with it.

Hokie, you really aren't any different than Smapty.

what exactly would you do to help end this war?

how about we ask the Ukrainians what they want to do? It's their country. Why is the US forcing them into defeat? Ukraine is not the country specifically targeting civilians. They didn't invade Russia.

Indeed two possibilities:

1. Bleed Russia until they've had enough

2. This war continues until Ukraine has had enough.

Until then, I am in favor of allowing Ukraine to control their country. .

The argument that the US shouldn't be finding arms is no longer relevant after passing the BBB and crushing the budget deficit. The administration can't have their cake and eat it too.

I remember an America that was the shining beacon on the hill that stood for freedom and taught for the little guy. Not sure where that America retreated to.

What does bleed Russia mean?

.

it means when you invade a sovereign country and you can't defeat them and target the civilian population to demoralize them, you get what ever is coming to you casualties wise.

Ok…

Now, how would Hokie handle this situation?

the same way we handled it when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and targeted the civilian population

Go ahead and educate us. I don't feel like reading more links being posted. Just give us a quick summary.

Exactly, Trump is still trying to hand Ukraine over to Putin rent free.

His "make dictators' dreams come true for nothing in return" foreign policy is genius.

Haha hahahaha ha! Okay, drama queen.

What would Smapty's solution be for all this?

Remember that time that Trump had even a single bad thing to say about Putin? Yeah, I don't either. Ever. Meanwhile he treats Zelensky like the enemy.

Remember that time that Trump asked Putin for a single concession to end the war? Anything? Yeah, I don't either. Funny considering that Russia was literally losing the war when Trump got into office and set about rescuing him.

Remember that time that Trump invited Putin to a "peace summit" in Alaska and didn't invite the leader of the other country? Unless your goal is to just find a way to hand Ukraine over to Putin, maybe don't do that. Of course now they're maybe considering inviting Zelensky, maybe. I guess Putin and Trump shouting at Zelensky together would make for great TV.

Yeah, I don't know... what could the solution possibly be? Maybe start acting like Americans again?

Smapty, as usual, that was a bunch of nonesense drivel (to be redundant)…

For once, enlighten us on what you would do.

what exactly does acting like an American again mean? Give us some actually things you would do to help end this war.

will you do it?

Cary, as usual, you blow right past any of my questions and repeat your own stupid question over and over.

Try to actually answer these three questions and I bet the answers to "what does acting like an American mean?!" and "what could we possibly do?!" should become obvious.

Will you do it?

1) Why does Trump go out of his way to never say anything negative about Putin, given the way he talks about everyone else? You do notice that, right? Is that normal?

2) Has Trump asked the guy who invaded and up until recently was losing for any concessions to end this war? Is that normal?

3) Why does Trump keep excluding Ukraine from his "peace" negotiations with Putin? Is that normal?

As usual, you never answer any questions that will show your true you. Again, this has nothing to do with me; rather, your insistence on calling Trump out for something you're clearly incapable of giving your thoughts and/or suggestions.

in turn, I get you asking me more questions. It's clear that you never give any substantive information…

Trump and Zelensky have met 3 times in person to discuss ending the war. Trump and Putin have met 0 times in person to discuss ending the war.

Why do you keep discussing with that mentally ill ******? Facts be damned.

I'm trying to give them an opportunity to be sensible. All they need to do is answer with a sensible plan.

1. Turns out that Biden had a one-on-one summit with Putin when he was the puppet President as well.

2. Maybe Zelenskyy should bite his tongue a little until after it actually happens instead of trying in advance to derail anything potentially good coming from it? Obviously, he still has plenty of US Democratic Party lawmakers (past and present) continually in his ear telling him what to say publicly to satisfy their non-stop TDS.

I have Cary numerous times you just choose to make any discussion difficult because I have to run through this gambit of questions that you know I know the answer to and your are doing it to disrespect whomever is trying to have a legitimate discussion. It's disingenuous and I'm tired of it.

I thought at least had some respect from you but clearly that's eroded to now so I'm done here.

What would YOU do if you were President to end the war in Ukraine?

As you just demonstrated, the problem is that you and Cary are under some kind of hypnotic trance and are completely incapable of critically thinking about anything that Trump says or does. He could eat a kitten on live TV and you'd just say "hmmmm... something Trump". It's beyond Twilight Zone at this point, but you guys are a lost cause.

Anyway, as Hokie tried to tell you, the US has a well-worn playbook for this, one that Joe Biden was actually using. I'm sure this never managed to make it to the MAGA Cinematic universe, but Russia was getting their ass kicked! This time last year Russia was on the verge of LOSING this war. They were even bringing in f'ing North Korean troops in a desperate effort to hold it together. I dunno, maybe we should have kept doing that?

But no, MAGA was soooo worried about all of those Russian boys getting killed, Trump had to swoop in to the rescue! Now Putin, the guy who, you know, INVADED EUROPE, is getting invited on American soil in order to probably hand him everything he ever wanted, and he still hasn't been asked for a single concession. We wouldn't want to upset the guy whose country has the GDP of Mexico. He's scary and such a strong leader!

This whole thing is up there with the Epstein stuff... indefensibly and obviously corrupt and stupid. It's true gaslighting on a country-wide scale. It's so in your face that partisans like you are forced into a bizarre state of denial until only a cartoon conspiracy world makes any sense.

Boycott the Olympics? We are hosting the next ones.

feel free to educate yourself

What I stated was a fact of what we did about Russia invading Afghanistan. We boycotted the Russian Olympics.

yeah, I know you're also smart enough to know that's not what I was talking about, but you just want to be obtuse

It is one of the 3 things listed when you google "what did the US do when Russia invaded Afghanistan. 1) Economic sanctions, 2) Boycott the olympics, and 3) aid to afganistan. I picked the one that was very personal to me.

Yep... and they boycotted us back in 1984 (Los Angeles).

*Both boycotts were stupid.

Neither one of the knuckleheads really want to provide a solution to end this war. Perhaps they think it's best to let them fight until one completely dies off?? I don't know...

So go hi five everyone, you win.

I truly have no idea what solutions you have provided. If I did, I would be able to bullet point them.

this isn't about me winning; rather, it's to truly understand how you would work through this incredibly awful war. I will go back and read your responses and try to give a summary of what I see. Hang in there and correct anything I bullet point…

"In Gallup's most recent poll of Ukraine conducted in early July 69% say they favor a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible"

I spent the better part of three years in Afghanistan so KMA. I was fine with leaving that place, the mistake was to use Kabul vs. Bagram. Biden's administration totally messed up and 13 Marines were blown to pieces because of it.

Gaza should stop electing Hamas as their leadership and then I might start to care. Until then, go Israel!

Just admit you'd rather the war continue and see thousands more on each side die than give your President Trump any credit.

how about we ask the Ukrainians what they want to do? It's their country. Why is the US forcing them into defeat? Ukraine is not the country specifically targeting civilians. They didn't invade Russia.

Indeed two possibilities:

1. Bleed Russia until they've had enough

2. This war continues until Ukraine has had enough.

Until then, I am in favor of allowing Ukraine to control their country. .

The argument that the US shouldn't be funding arms is no longer relevant after passing the BBB and crushing the budget deficit. The administration can't have their cake and eat it too.

I remember an America that was the shining beacon on the hill that stood for freedom and taught for the little guy. Not sure where that America retreated to.

it means when you invade a sovereign country and you can't defeat them and target the civilian population to demoralize them, you get what ever is coming to you casualties wise.

Ukrainian Support for War Effort Collapses

"Most Ukrainians now favor ending the war with Russia through negotiations, as support for fighting until victory has dropped sharply since the early days of the conflict"

"In Gallup's most recent poll of Ukraine conducted in early July 69% say they favor a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible"

So now hokie should be fine with President Trump negotiating an end to the war?

You think most Ukranians are for a negotiating end to the war, with Trump and Putin "negotiating" and Ukraine not having a consequential seat at the table?

And laying down for Putin isn't negotiating. Like Smapty has said, "negotiation" implies both sides giving up stuff, and getting stuff.

What is Russia giving up, and what is Ukraine getting?

I watched your President Trump's news conference today. He said he and Putin would talk and after he would immediately call Z to discuss the talks with him. He also said he would get Putin and Z together in the same room shortly after.

How do you or anyone else know what is going on the the negotiations? We don't but youand Smapty WANT to assume the worst because you simply hate Trump more than you want to see a bloody war end.

I could be wrong but I believe there are discussions about both countries giving up land?

Try not to hyperventilate, like you do every time you hear the name Trump, and let it play out?

It's completely lost on you that this is the first war in living memory that you guys have endlessly wrung your hands over being a "bloody war". Why is that? You guys used to jerk off feverishly every time someone said the words "shock and awe". Most recently we were in a "bloody war" with Afghanistan for 20 years, a situation that was impossible to get out of cleanly... and when Biden said "screw it, we're doing it!" did you cheer? Yeah, no... we'd still be there if you had your way.

Oh, but now you just can't take all of this bloodshed in Ukraine! Gaza is fine, of course... do what they gotta do! But Ukraine trying to repel Putin's invasion just has to stop!

Get any credit...for what?

What is the bar Trump should have to clear with regard to outcomes for our strategic partner Ukraine in their conflict with our adversary Putin/Russia, in order to "get credit" for Ukraine?

Credit for trying to stop the killing first and then hopefully negotiating a peace agreement.

Would you like to give him any credit for negotiating deals between:

-Armenia/Azerbaijan
-Cambodia/Thailand
-DR Congo/Rwanda
-India/Pakistan

To your last point, I just want to point out that my issue with Russia/Ukraine has zero to do with Trump and 100% to do with a desire to not let Putin get what he wants, with the tactics for which he has choosen to get to his ends.

I understand that position 100%. So, what would you suggest that could get both parties to end this war? If you need help, see my post above with your points…

They are going to try to sell out Ukraine. Zelensky won't agree to it ( rightfully ) and then they will ( try to ) make him the villain instead of Putin. That is the definition of capitulation. And why do we have the right to give away Ukraine without approval from Ukraine?

1. Stop fellating Putin.
2. Put more sanctions on Russia and anyone who deals with them.
3. Create a coalition of unilateral support for Ukraine to remain as an independent nation
4. That coalition provides resources to Ukraine
5 flood the oil and gas market with supply and tank the prices.
