And… you all make fun of my sources.. the onion? Really? That's as far left of a propaganda rag as you can find.

The Onion isn't a "source", it's satire. The fact that you can't tell the difference definitely explains your "sources".

ok, a far left propaganda satire rag. Its the same thing...

Quote:

President Donald Trump said Friday that he "hasn't thought about" pardoning Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell but that he's "allowed to do it."

"I haven't thought about it," Trump said when asked by reporters outside the White House if he had thought about a pardon or clemency for Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking. "I'm allowed to do it, but it's something I have not thought about."

BZZZZZZT! Oh sorry! The correct answer was "Hell no, why would I pardon that scumbag?"

America's great companies now have to publicly kiss Trump's ass in order to get ahead and/or avoid retribution.

We're hurtling toward Banana Republic at light speed.

Not just kiss his ass. Literally bribe him and the federal government.

Big 5 companies funding his ridiculous inauguration on the order of 2x any past president. Universities paying hundreds of millions to restore (likely illegally witheld) federal funding. Law firms providing up to $1 billion in pro bono legal services to help defend his illegality. That's "billion" with a B.

We are certainly in unprecedented times.

LOL-another day, another "unprecedented times"…another threat to our democracy…another oUtrAGe!!1

Yep, and I didn't even mention the most egregiously conflicted and unethical act of starting a ****coin while in office so he can make tens or hundreds of millions grifting off the world and being bribed tracelessly by any unsavory nation or character that wants to. That's also definitely a totally normal and healthy behavior by an American president.

I seem to remember a day when Cary was on here bemoaning Biden making money from - get this - writing a book after he left office as VP and questioning how he had significant equity in his house after owning it for a few decades. Seems downright Pleasantville-ish by comparison doesn't it?

But let's gaslight instead, way more fun!

Yeah-yeah, we get it. Trump bad. Trump real bad. Trump real real bad…

Have you noticed you (along with a few others on here) never argue the topic at hand and instead either insult the poster, or deflect and change the subject?

The only people in the world that don't think Trump having a ****coin is completely unethical, imprudent, and generally just terrible for the US are some Republicans, and Trump's oligarch buddies around the world.

Literally no one else that studies or appreciates democracy thinks that it's normal, or OK.

You live in a bubble of hate and anger for someone you never met. Your great President Trump could cure cancer and you would still hate the guy. Funny thing is you hated Bush, you hate Trump and you'll hate the next person who doesn't have a (D) behind their name.

So forgive if I don't try to change your mind with each of your unhinged post.

You waste so much time projecting. Do you see me on here talking about George Bush or decrying the Republican Party as "the party of anti-science and fake conspiracies and pedophilia" every other post like you do with the commie lefty Dems? I don't, because I don't think that's true. I don't care about red teams and blue teams, I just care about ideas and outcomes and the way people get treated.

Again, why do you run from post to post lambasting the poster? Just talk about tariffs, or the ethics of Trump's ****coin, or any other actual issue you want to talk about. Have you noticed I never talk about other posters and just stick to issues? It's really OK to leave me or other posters out of your response.

I don't give two ****s about Donald Trump as a person. I've got plenty of stuff going on in my life that requires attention enough that I don't expend an ounce of emotion on someone I've never met, and can't change.

I do think that on balance he's been uniquely terrible for our country though. I hope it's the worst violation of norms and laws by any of president this great country ever has moving forward; he's very clearly the biggest violator of norms and laws we've seen over our last 200+ years.

At least he's grifted his way into generational wealth for his family, we can all be appreciative of that!

Tariffs, the cure for everything!

You've got to start somewhere….

it's illegal to use tariffs in this manner

Really? Please quote the statute that says that…

The President doesn't have the authority to administer tariffs, that is the responsibility of Congress. What national security issue does Brazil pose that Trump has applied a 50% tariff? Because helping out someone who he admires because he tried to start a coup against the existing government ain't a good reason

Let's stop pretending you believe in law and order. You don't. You want a centrally controlled industrial policy and a direct government system where laws are dictated by fiat. It's such an illiberal concept it's truly amazing how much people bend themselves on pretzels defending this idiocy.

Anything that Howard Lutnick thinks is great policy is most definitely not.

Since you didn't take the time to quote the Statute, I'll take your words as they are...

Hokie, for me, all of this is inbounds for the President. The powers of the President are being pushed to see where the limits really are. Right now, many people continue to say that the limits are what they think they are; however Article 2 powers continue to be the issue.

Regarding your accusation, whether true or not, about centrally planned... well, those are just words without meaning. Remember Ross Perot say "you're going to hear a big sucking sound" and that would be the jobs in our country. I think he was correct. Now, you believe that the net of all this was good. I don't. Is that very law passed, that provided for the "big sucking sound"... Was that central planning? Central planning passed a law that created this debate, right?

Regarding Howard Lutnick... no offense; however, I believe Howard is as smart as you want to come off as being. You just don't like this movement. That's ok, vote in the next election. you know... Representative Republic. Elections have consequences.

Howard Lutnick - Lolololololololol Cary. Here is Howie, basically selling MAGA on socialism.

Ok, so, the reporter should have asked more questions, that's for sure.

Based on what I am inferring, the Japan Government is giving 500B for the US (my assumption is a private company) to build any type of business we need. In return, the Japan government will take a 10% equity position in those companies.

That said, that is my inference; however, more question absolutely need to be asked!

That's not the way the Japenses have described the way the deal works:

"In return for reduced tariffs, Japan has proposed investing $550bn in the US to enable Japanese firms "to build resilient supply chains in key sectors like pharmaceuticals and semiconductors," Ishiba said."

What Lutnick is saying is that the US Government will own these factories.

What authority is there for Trump to decide what factories to build in the US that would be owned by the Federal Government? That's socialism.

If this trade deal goes through, great, because I can buy a new Toyota or Honda 12% cheaper than a US automaker, so win for me. But the devil is in the details, and it seems like Lutnick and the Priminister of Japan are far apart in what this deal actually is supposed to be. And Lutnick should now better, since he's negotiating it. He's either straight up lying (most plausible), or he doesn't know what he's negotiating (unlikely)

Do you project much?

This is a forum littered with conspiracy theories and you're worried about my opinion? alrighty

Worry?? I didn't say anything like that. What I said is that I believe you are projecting…
projection

#Gobbler, if you've not read it, try it. Here's an abstract on Chapter 5, Shaping the battlefield.

This chapter discusses the fifth principle of Sun Tzu's The Art of War and its application in military situations. Shaping means mastering the enemy and making them conform to the leader's strategy, rules, and will. To shape the enemy, one must first put together all that has been learned so far. A leader must know the situation; one must be able to deceive the enemy as to one's plans; and all this must be accomplished with blinding speed. These principles must be combined in a strategy that "shapes" the enemy. That strategy must attack not only the resources of the opponent but also, more importantly, the minds, thought processes, and wills of its leaders.
