Only other two ways to deal with the debt crisis is hiking rates to stratospheric levels, which would utterly destroy the economy and maybe even the US government as we know it, which is why this option won't be taken. The other bad option is to inflate the debt away and they'll choose that option every time. Apparently, Trump is trying to buy time to avoid either option. It's telling that his first foreign trip of the second term was to Saudi Arabia and I'm guessing he arranged Petrodollar 2.0 to forestall de-dollarization efforts around the globe. Second, as stated above, he's working these trade and investment deals to accomplish his stated goal…..or at least forestall the inevitable from happening on his watch.
