This is the leader civ and smapty support. Lol. It's incredible to watch what a mental illness does to people.
Then all these guys should step up and keep funding a war that's simply not winnable. I think the American people are tired of wasting billions on endless conflicts.
What a straw man.
Why not try to achieve precisely the same diplomatic outcome you want by, you know, being diplomatic and professional?
Instead, now the world's focus is on the tone and presentation of the summit instead of the content.
This is really no different than basically every other issue of consequence while Trump has been president. The rhetoric and tone and presentation becomes the story instead of the actual meat on the bone.
Right Zelenskyy is just as responsible for the "tone" as anyone. No one looked great during this exchange but giving him a pass is hilarious. We clearly watched 2 different things.
Are you completely forgetting Zelensky walked into this meeting on the heels of Trump inexplicably calling him a dictator and blatantly lying and saying Ukraine started the war?
Understanding the tone that had already been set in the days immediately preceding the meeting, by Trump and Trump alone, layered against the reality of everything at stake for Ukraine, Zelensky's demeanor in the meeting was contextual and understandable.
I do not condone Trump saying those things and he was wrong. According to Rubio, Zelenskyy insisted on going to the White House to meet regarding the deal so if he were that bothered by those things he should've never come. The agreement could've been signed several days ago but he insisted on going to meet with Trump and it's pretty clear what his intentions were.
Life's not that simple. The future of Ukraine is in the hands of its allies so not meeting wasn't an option.
He had to meet, but there's no way to not be a little raw from being called a dictator and having been told in the international press that the guy you're meeting with said your country actually started the war that's devastated your country over the last several years. Especially when it was your country that got attacked, and especially when the guy you're meeting with seems eager to ingratiate himself with the leader of your attacker, who himself looks and smells much more like an actual dictator than you do.
Speaking of Rubio, just let him run the show. He actually conducts himself with the requisite professionalism befitting the stakes and visibility of these talks and seems more interested in resolution than inflammation and grandstanding.
