I just watched the whole 40 minutes and not the last ten or so that seem to be posted everywhere. Zelensky skrewed up and got into an emotional argument and caused the last 10 mins. He had a deal if he'd just shut up. It's unfortunate, no one really looked good, but I can't really blame Trump nor Vance. They made points and stated why they were doing what they were doing, which quite frankly has been missing an explanation (still don't understand the capitulation of calling Zelinski a dictator and Ukraine started the war).

If you have a chance. Watch the whole thing.

I saw the whole thing also. Zelensky is way too emotional. He wants Putin's head. Hard to blame him but when the whole world knows you need the US for any positive outcome you do not argue with the US about not wanting a cease fire. You take the crease fire. Stupid man.
100%. Zelensky made a bad move here.
He never said he didn't want a cease fire. He said (correctly) that without a security guarantee of some sort a cease fire with Putin would never work. Because Putin has already broken about 1000 ceasefires, including many while Trump was President last time.

You're seriously blaming Zelensky for being emotional about Trump spewing Russian propaganda in his face for 40 minutes, and then not flattering him sufficiently? Man, this country is heading to a dark place.

By the way, will someone please tell our dipsh** president that it's "rare earth". He called them "raw earth" over and over the entire meeting.

yes. He had to keep his cool and he didn't.

You are correct it does all boil down to one thing. One person trusts Putin and the other doesn't. Personally, I agree that Putin shouldn't be trusted.

When Europe fails to pick up the slack and Ukraine falls, the Baltic States - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are next, and I don't want to get all Werewolf here, but that's what will happen when Ukraine falls. Trump will ignore Article 5 in the NATO agreement and then we will actually have WWIII.

Are you this dumb? If you listen to what Trump said… signing the minerals deal would give the US a vested interest in securing Ukraine. Otherwise, all we are doing is providing funds and equipment to the demise of the people of Ukraine and Russia.

Zalensky has been a tool to the world. His country has been decimated and he holds no responsibility to the Ukraine people. It's sad! He needs for this to end. Take the best deal he can to save face. As Trump said, he doesn't have any cards to play!! The only cards he has to play are ours!! This is not our war; although, we have provided some security to maintain it going on as long as it has.

It's time for it to stop!

Today's meeting certainly accomplished the goal of making it clear to Europe that we've switched sides. Right afterwards they said "Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It's up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge."

So either Europe will re-militarize and we'll pay the price, or they won't and we'll pay the price. Trump did serious damage to our country today.

I honestly just don't see the capitulation…. Trump actually brought up a good point. Putin was blamed for two major issues, in our country. He was blamed for Russia, Russia, Russia and the Biden laptop.

What the hell was our country doing? Too many people gave saber rattled Putin for unnecessary things.

Again, Trump said explicitly that having access to the rare earth stuff, the US has a vested interest in protecting Ukraine.

Europe, Europe, Europe…

They should have stepped up far more previously. It's their landmass, not ours. Trump said as much, today…

I'm happy to hear they are. Perhaps they should work the rare earth minerals for the security they give. And… they will call us for help, because they are weak!

I really hate how it seemed to go down today. Zelenskyy screwed up royally for the second time….the first was campaigning in Pennsylvania against Trump. The second was sticking it to Marco Rubio who thought he had a deal in place for both Presidents to sign. So many brave Ukrainians have made the ultimate sacrifice….for this?

Trump will negotiate a ceasefire and then hokie, smapty, and co will cry about that too.

On what planet was that a "good point". It was the most disturbing part of the entire 40 minutes. We have reams of evidence that Russia meddled in our elections, has hacked us relentlessly, etc, etc. Not up for debate.

The only question was whether not Trump "colluded" with them. As Mueller said in his report, he hit a wall of obstruction and gave up, so we'll never know. But man, today Trump sure made it look like they're BFFs.

BTW, much of the rare earths are in Russian-held territory. How was that supposed to work, exactly?

I don't think it's over. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a signed agreement by the end of the weekend. That said, also wouldn't be surprised if Z is removed by the end of the weekend. Haha. Not that soon, but wouldn't be surprised if that ball starts rolling. Putin doesn't want WW3, no matter how much folks like hokie and smapty want to fear monger about it, so he'll let this negotiation play out. I think a ceasefire is near.

Europe is only weak because we wanted them weak after WW2. We gave them security guarantees and in exchange we became the center of the economic universe. As a result we've had the most peaceful 80 year stretch in European history.

You geniuses are working overtime to upend all of that.

Im already slightly concerned that Trump will wear down Rubio to the point where he resigns. He has been far and away Trumps best decision so far and I REALLY hope he doesnt push him past the limit.

That being said, from what Ive read today (and still havent seen the full press conference), I dont think his frustrations will be with our side

The entire Ukraine war has been obvious from the start. it was a scam, a fleecing of America. Not but a handful of you researched the history of that region....you simply parrot what the MSM has programmed you to believe.

Many here are in for a rude awakening about our Govt the last couple of decades. The truth is coming.....drip by drip ....

How long do you want to ignore this user?
A few thoughts on today's developments.

I don't know much about the details of the mineral deal, but I'm not sure I want to see it go through now. While it sounds like it could recoup some money spent on this war it also sounds like it locks the US in a long term financial agreement in Ukraine. Steve Bessant said this is the third time Zelensky hasn't signed the deal in the last few weeks. Bessant flew to Kyiv to get it signed and then Zelensky refused in Munich with Rubio. That's three strikes for me. Screw it.

Unlike me, someone who does seem to know every detail of the mineral deal is Susan Rice. How does she know so much and which world leaders has she been talking to about US foreign policy? Does she need to be arrested and charged under the Logan Act? Heh!

As for this war. It needs to end. Spending 100's of billions more to keep a proxy war going against Russia is not in the best interest of America. I could be wrong but I think the American people are through funding forever wars whether our young men and women are dying or not. If I'm wrong the dems can run on getting a veto proof congress in 2026 and then spend all the money they want to fight this proxy war against Russia and tell Trump to shove it because after today I'd be surprised if Trump ever signs another Ukraine spending package.
