As long as our constitutional rights are protected, govt fraud is prevented, the federal govt is significantly reduced in dollars and personnel and there are a handful of related constitutional amendments including term limits, I'm good with an odd dude like Musk. All of this is well and fine but what Trump and Bessent have to deal with is the US debt trap. We're so deep into it such that they're going to have to resort to desperate measures to deal with it because 1) inflating our way out isn't an option for several reasons including political suicide, and 2) a strong dollar would force other countries to liquidate treasuries to obtain US dollars for their needs, driving up treasury rates that our own government can't afford (also contributing to more inflation), but paradoxically, a weak dollar also means more inflation. Watch for Bessent to do something unusual. He's already said that he plans to monetize the US' asset side, which might be code for marking to market, the US gold holdings. If that happens, look out gold shorts! You'll never be able to cover the margin calls. Got gold? Get gold.
