Also, this looks more and more like a planned action from the beginning. Trump and Gaetz would be the kind of people that will play a long game…
Gaetz was pushed hard by Don Jr, so Indobt think so. Have to think next man up is Mike Lee, no?
I didn't realize Gaetz was push hard by Don Jr. That said, Mike Lee might be good; however, I would prefer Ken Paxton, AG out of Texas.

I stand firm on the idea that we have massive rot in the Federal Government. I don't know if Mike Lee is willing to be a hardliner on eradicating that rot. I think he is definitely constitutionally based, no doubt.

Ken Paxton was removed from his office, down in Texas. Who did this? It was the Bush backed republicans that brought him up on some ethics charge (or something like that). He won the case and is now back in his AG seat.

Remember who Paxton beat, in the Texas primaries? It was a Bush family member... That doesn't go well in Texas. Karl Rove was involved in that whole hatchet job against Paxton. Paxton is a fighter and a winner!!!

Paxton would be who I support!
Damned straight, he beat the RINO Texas House speaker who went after him and unlike Lee and Cruz, he's available, the latter two can't be spared from the Senate.

Update: Pam Bondi. That's some choice. She was good in Florida, how well she knows DC and the bowels of the DOJ, I don't know.

Is there Senate confirmation for Deputy AG? That could be Gaetz too.......very Trump-like move.
Of course, Gaetz to US Senate would be great too via DeSantis apt.

I'm not sure about deputy AG…. I've read where the deputy AG is the person that does most of the heavy lifting…

Yep. I was thinking Special Council too.........but I didn't recall who appointed the SG. So, AG does.

Just got this in my recommendations on YT….an interview with Donald Trump's mother. Trump's mother was born in Scotland. She retained her Scottish accent, and you can see VERY obvious similarities to Donald in her mannerisms and the way she speaks.

I occasionally wondered why Trump has such a unique accent and way of speaking. I think it has a lot to do with his mother, and her Scottish accent.

It's not a speculative thought for the right though.

Retribution is a common theme in Trump and the Republican Party's messaging and motivations. All we've heard for years is how investigations of Trump are purely motivated by politics and not underlying evidence. Except that ignores the fact that investigations go nowhere without evidence (like the aborted Biden impeachment that we heard about for months but that never materialized because there was no meat on that bone).

I'm all for attempts at retribution by Trump's incoming administration because they'll either fail miserably like all the dumb and failed election fraud lawsuits in 2020 or they'll find actual evidence and root out corruption. Either of those outcomes serve a useful purpose.

its funny Civ... Most, if not all of the time, this retribution thing is coming from Democrats and/or the legacy media. You know... people in the government are saying they are going to leave the country.

I think what you guys need to be most concerned about is the dismantling of the Administrative State. That's where you get most of your support for the causes, I "think" you care about.

Now, for me... I'm all about going after certain people. Adam Schiff is Target #1!!! Unfortunately, I don't that will happen.

Dan Scavino, who heads up Trump's social media posts, said that was definitely true and came right from the horse's mouth. Trump said he was never considered. If CNN is promoting him, then you know he's bad.

Pam Bondi is an excellent pick for AG. She is really good and is a former homicide prosecutor and AG of Florida. Media and the Dems should have left Gaetz well enough alone. Be careful what you wish for.

As noted above by Cary's post from the Constitution. Trump can bypass all Cabinet confirmation hearings if he wants to. Get the people in there and destroy the Deep State. Sounds like a great plan to me!

No, he can't. This is a terrible interpretation and not what was intended. Besides, he's not going to get cooperation from the Senate. Senators (most of them) still take their job very seriously.

What qualifies this as an extraordinary occasion? That his nominees might get rejected?

It certainly will get a ruling; however, this may be a place he could go to get some nominees through the process.

Based on what I understand, if the House says it's going on recess and the Senate doesn't, that becomes a disagreement. At that point, the President can force the two chambers into recess.

Now, I'm not sitting here saying this is constitutional; rather, I'm saying this is a crude understanding of how this may happen. Also, I am confident this will get challenged in the courts.

Also, the Senator's that were most vocal against Gaetz all voted for Garland. I think that is the kind of thing that causes issues. If an elected President, by the people, wants certain people to be in their cabinet, then the Senate should support that President.

And finally, Trump probably will "not" get any support, by the Democrats, on any of his nominees. Only the Republicans play by a different rule. I've said it before: Democrats play smash mouth Football, Republican sit on the sidelines.

Give all the credit to the Democrats!! They are just good at what they do...

Read Federalist Paper 76.

I'm sorry, just because democrats do something does not mean Republicans should also do it. That argument just doesn't persuade me as a good stance

Just so we are clear, I'm not advocating to do this; rather, I'm communicating what I'm hearing. As far doing the same as Democrats, well... we can sit here on some higher ground (in which the Pubs don't) or, we can fight to win!

On some circumstances, I say fight to win..

So literally no matter who the President wants, the Senate should confirm them just because? That's ridiculous.

There's fair evidence Gaetz is heavy into drugs and prostitution at a minimum, and dudes that are heavy into drugs and prostitution seem fairly compromised, no? And that doesn't even speak of him running in sex trafficking circles or other illegal or illicit or unethical behavior. Gaetz's circumstance is extreme.

However little Dems support Trump's picks, there's almost certainly relativity there. Gaetz had zero shot at garnering any Dem support given his lunacy; he couldn't even get the necessary Republican support. If Trump nominates some like Roberts or Gorsuch I have a strong suspicion the outcome would be different.
