I don't know Civ,… didn't the legal system work. You're all about letting the system work. Well, part of that system is innocent until proven guilty. If the DOJ didn't find enough evidence to to charge him, well…
The DOJ and Ethics Committee don't have the same purviews.
The Ethics committee hasn't found evidence of sex trafficking either I'm strongly suspecting, but they apparently have heard evidence of other wrongdoing or ethical violations that fell outside the DOJ's scope.
Gaetz is nominated to be the top cop in the land. Its not asking too much to understand whether he is legally or ethically compromised.
And again, why do we have Congressional Republicans highly concerned about Gaetz if he's "done nothing wrong."
Civ, that's the world view difference we have…. At some point, I get tired of all the investigations against Republicans. My hunch is that there isn't anything there (could be wrong) and this is all to do with some type of vendetta.
Is Gaetz squeaky clean? Probably not! Are you, Civ, squeaky clean? Probably not!
At this point, anymore, I don't even care. I want the person that is going to deconstruct whatever part, of the Federal Government, they are appointed to do. I believe we have a rot in our system that is not good. So, put the person in there that will eradicate that rot.

You finally nailed it though. You don't care and neither does most of Congress or more than half of voters. All accusations, no matter how credible, are a witchhunt, and Pubs are perpetual victims.
I'm looking forward to Trump's attempts at retribution over the next four years. They'll be a great reminder that investigations have to have actual evidence to proceed.
Civ, I have been very consistent, unlike you, that Republicans are part of the rot, in DC. Yes, they are speaking out because he might be a threat to their being. They all are butt-boys with Kevin McCarthy. Kevin was axed by Gaetz…. So, yes… they have a vendetta.
