Genuinely can't wrap my head around the left being okay with calling people "Nazi's", but they lose their damn minds when a comedian cracks a joke about how poorly PR has been handled by dem leaders...

Those screaming "Nazi's" have zero room to complain. They forfeited moral superiority when they labeled 50% of Americans as Nazi's.

Exactly.

I have no idea what this comedian said but clearly it was a bad idea to have him at the event. My guess is he said some offensive jokes, and liberals took it and ran with it to try to drum up as much offense as possible. Now Trump campaign has to separate and defend. You'll see people post online how it changed their vote yada yada yada but at the end of the day this isn't moving the needle. Harris campaign is 6 ft under in the mud right now trying to sling anything they can at Trump because it is damn near over for them and they know it. No telling how trashed they leave the White House in January.
Plain and simple. He is a gay comedian with a massive podcast following who frequently offends everyone, MAGA people included.

The idea that you run a comedian up to the podium to "offend everyone" at a event that needs to seal the deal for your prospective election as President of the United States is a wild strategy.

You didn't ***** and moan about that. Why?

Post rally, no movement in polls. That's how terrible Harris has been. This comedians comments offends only the far left. The left is crying within an echo chamber.

George Lopez is a Mexican-American man who has made a career of joking about his own culture. Hinchcliffe ain't Puerto Rican or even Hispanic. He's a white dude from the Midwest.

You may somehow be unaware of this phenomenon in comedy but when people make fun of themselves or their own culture it hits way differently than when they make fun of other people.

A lot of time in comedy, there may be a joke out there somewhere but it's not your joke to make. And in Hinchcliffe's case it was compounded by just being a bad joke. There is not connection between trash and Puerto Rico. It just seemed random and mean, not funny or pertinent to the topic at hand.

The proof is in the pudding. Obviously, Trump's campaign disagrees with you since they immediately tried to distance themselves and obviously Mexican-Americans took that joke way differently than Puerto Ricans took HInchcliffe's joke last night.

This is wrong on so many levels. Comedy is comedy. Comedians need to be given the grace to make a mistake, even when it makes people uncomfortable or angry. It's art, its not a policy statement.

There have been many examples of o silt comics performing at these type of events - ie triumph the insult comic dog and Don Rickels. The fact that this seems to bother you so much for some reason is perplexing

I think there is a subset of people who are incapable of separating comedy from reality.

Hell, Dave Chappell made a career out of using the N word on national TV. Making racist skits every week that "offended" everyone. It was some of the funniest stuff ever created.

The issue with Tony the Comedian is he has to know that the left would take everything out of context because they are in total desperation mode.

Yes it's art but that cuts both ways. You have license to make art but you can't tell people how a joke about them is supposed to make them feel. That's not the way comedy works. Either the joke works or it doesn't.

I'm not arguing for censorship of comedians or Hinchcliffe's cancellation.

I'm saying it was a really bad strategic decision by the Trump campaign and clearly offended a helluva lot of Puerto Ricans.

The joke sucked, it didn't land, and it offended a bunch of people that are not inconsequential to Trump getting elected, a week before the election.

And broadly, strategically, I just don't see how if anyone vetted this material (and they damn sure should have) thought it was worth the risk.

A couple of comments regarding the discussion:

In hindsight, comedian should have avoided any derogatory comments about groups of people. Still, a double standard by the media when they dwell on the Trump rally and sweep George Lopez comments under the rug.

Agree, the left is looking for any breakthrough to attack Trump because they have been failing on the issues. Today's world needs to laugh more than ever. These thin skinned folks would have imploded if they had grown up with Archie Bunker, George Jefferson, Maude and Fred Sanford.

I thought Vivek Ramaswamy's remarks were spot on! Any thoughts?

Biden was removed because he was losing in the polls. If Biden was up against Trump, they would have kept him in race and hid him again. Dems knew they could have him step down at some point after the election or have him removed due to his decline in mental acuity.

You do know, more and more manufacturing is being moved to other country's…. What's happening is, in most goods, the raw components are still being manufactured in China and they are being assembled outside of China, thus getting the origin in other places. The tariffs become far less and/or at 0%.

Also, some companies are getting their products manufactured in China, then do a small percentage assembly domestically, in order to lower the tariff. The whole tariff argument is such a red herring! Personally, I believe in the use of tariffs as a leverage point in negotiating with other countries. Also, we absolutely need to think about our manufacturing base and try to do everything we can to get more and more back domestically.

This old adage, by the establishment Republicans, to offshore everything and become a services economy has been and will continue to be dangerous. You should know that based on the industry you work in…

I have a solution, let's have most or all construction done in China, then do a small assembly here domestically. Perhaps your job and Civ's job can be outsourced…
