Who would I want it to be? Cuban. But that's a pipe dream. He doesn't want that job and I don't blame him.

I think Buttigieg, Pritzker, Shapiro, and Beshear are the combination of the most ready/capable/electable (to me) out of the field of people I think could run. I haven't researched it or thought about it enough to have a favorite amongst that group.

Now he should be deported immediately to any country other than El Salvador that will take him. After that it's up to him to figure it out. Roy is a solid, fairly moderate dude but he has the personality of a Highway Patrolman which I think plays well at the state level but less so nationally.

A++ thinker and communicator. Extraordinarily capable.

He polled poorly with religious black and Hispanic voters in past primaries because of his sexuality though.

Republicans would of course go low and hold him up as being a get woke/go broke candidate. They'd be completely wrong about the reason for his nomination (he's probably the most adept communicator and speaker in the field).

But I have no idea whether he could overcome the anti-woke campaign sure to come from the right, and the historic electoral bias against him from religious black and Hispanic voters.

I think Buttigieg (and Pritzker for that matter) are also unelectable at the federal level. Mayor Pete didnt exactly endear himself as head of the DOT and as for Pritzker...good luck selling a billionaire governor of Illinois as a viable candidate nationally

My current hope on the Dem side is Shapiro. It would be a good shift back towards the middle, which is something I want from both sides.

I wouldn't hate Shapiro as the candidate at all. He's a smart, likable, relatable, competent candidate.

I get what you're saying about Pritzker but I don't think Illinois is seen in nearly the same light as California, and I think the billionaire businessman background is a net positive not negative. He doesn't seem like he came from the swamp. And I think he's definitely got that bulldog in him too.

On Mayor Pete I question his electability too but I don't think most Americans have a clue about what he did as head of DOT. Hell I don't even know and I follow this stuff fairly closely.
