I hate Trump and think his presidency was damaging to the US in myriad ways but I don't think the people that voted for him in 2016 should be ashamed. Their other choice was Hillary Clinton, one of the most unlikeable politicians in modern history.

Biden voters in 2020 were faced with the same predicament. Both candidates sucked, just in different ways.

This is a limitiation/defect of a two-party system and lack of ranked-choice voting in primaries, not an indictment of voters that have to make a binary decision when it comes time to cast a vote in the general election.

No politicians solve all problems without creating others. Biden's presidency has actually been quite productive if you consider "productive" getting his legislation passed. But that doesn't mean that his leftist approach (or that of the far-left supporters he bent the knee to to get elected) doesn't create some problems for our country (very obviously).

Frankly I think vacillating between conservative and liberal governance provides some balance and order and prevents things from getting too far off the rails in either direction fiscally or socially.

It's not vacillating between the two. Obama was a major shift from my prior voting habits, but I voted strictly for what I thought would be a non-establishment POTUS. He turned out to be very much establishment. I also - foolishly - voted for a man because of his skin pigment thinking he could heal wounds. Of course, he did the opposite.

The two parties are essentially one and neither have worked for the best interest of the American people. Until we identify the real criminals in DC, we'll not be a free and independent, and a sovereign people.
