Aren't there questions about where chunks of the Covid packages have gone, or haven't gone?
Chem, if the right Republicans win in November, we are going to see investigation like we've never seen before. In fact, impeachment is going to happen to several members of the administration.Packchem91 said:Steve Videtich said:

We can disagree on whether that strategy is good or not; however, it really needs to happen in a factual based way. Now, if that prohibits passing bills to right the economy, then it will backfire big time.

Yeah, that would probably be nice for all of us... but I'm sure that it's going to be difficult not going for the "pound of flesh" after the last 5 1/2 years...PackFansXL said:AMEN!!hokiewolf said:how about when the republicans win in a landslide they choose to focus on the future with sound legislation and budgeting instead of politics as usualcaryking said:Chem, if the right Republicans win in November, we are going to see investigation like we've never seen before. And most of it's going to depend on how our "free and impartial press" decides to play it.
If the MARXIST PARTY had one more vote in the U.S. Senate this country would be a shell of what it was. Remember that.PackFansXL said:
I agree the media is a major problem for our country; however, if Republicans achieve a super majority in 2024, they need to cram as much correction into our laws as they possibly can during the first two years. If they still feel like extracting revenge after accomplishing significant corrective action, that is the time to do it. Choosing to do that though is a waste of our nation's resources. Succumbing to incessant baiting and biting from the press is also a waste of time. Republicans need to take the high road when they get the majority and focus on correcting this mess 24/7.
National Review had a great article a couple of days ago addressing suggested top priorities for a Republican super majority. If you have a subscription, it is well worth the read.

It's double speak so that people hear what they want to hear. Didn't Biden in his recent speech tell us how great everyone was doing? Everyone has more savings and less debt. Then later on says that he understands the pressure and strain that all Americans are feeling because of inflation. Huh...?

Republicans held the House, Senate, and Whitehouse for the first two years of Trumps presidency. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnel could only get a few things done during that time. If the National Review thinks the current leaders of the party will get things done with a super majority, they're kidding themselves…PackFansXL said:

Actually, Biden should absolutely be impeached over the handling of the boarder. He is in "no way" faithfully executing the laws of the land regarding immigration. Well, I hope you agree taht is a horrible strategy. You always talk about wanting rid of the way these guys have governed…but if the "right" guys go immediately after the other party rather than passing legislation for the American people, why did we elect them?
I asked the Q about the Sec Of Energy not because I want legislators to go after her….if anyone were going to, it should be an independent body

As the article states, environmentalists block every attempt at building new refineries. The last new refinery was built in 1976! Biden's handlers are willing to let their ideology harm innumerable people for a short term hoped for political gain. I refuse to accept the planned destruction thesis as a cause. I think it is just politics run amok due to ideology choices trumping rational thought.Quote:
Biden's position on oil refining is that new refineries should not be constructed, the ones that exist should be regulated with increasing stringency if not closed down, and even if they do stay in business, they shouldn't be allowed to make too much money but please do me a solid and refine more oil, or else.
As the Institute for Energy Research finds in a recent article, "New refineries are unlikely to be built in the United States due to daunting environmental standards and policies that the Biden administration has been implementing to reduce petroleum product consumption in the future."
ExxonMobil responded to his letter with some proposals: suspend the Jones Act to make it easier to transport petroleum products, lay off the biofuel standards, and "promote investment through clear and consistent policy." The American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers and the American Petroleum Institute wrote a letter describing how regulations from a variety of different agencies influenced industry decisions to close and convert refineries. There's plenty the government can do by getting out of the way and letting American refineries do their jobs.
Steve Videtich said:
This is interesting to me because it here in SLC we have several refineries. There is also a huge ongoing debate regarding air quality in the valley. Now, part of the issue is that we live in a bowl which makes air quality a constant issue.
But, local PR wants everyone to drive less, carpool, Yada Yada. But, it's easy to see that the refineries are one of the main culprits of the issue. So why not take this opportunity to build new refineries with new technology that drastically cuts down on emissions from the existing refineries?
Wouldn't this appease both sides?
A major refinery was planned for a remote section of Arizona back in 2005, but even that one was blocked by environmentalists per my understanding. There must be an opportunity to recoup the $B from the investment too.Quote:
Building a new refinery costs billions of dollars and takes years. For that investment to yield a decent return, domestic demand for gas and for diesel will have to be strong for quite some time to come.
