The Prime BBQ thread got me thinking it may be time to get a thread going about local restaurants, good eats, etc.

Grabbed lunch at Torchy's Tacos off Wake Forest Road yesterday. Relatively inexpensive and very good tacos. I will say that it was slammed for lunch, but will definitely be adding it to my lunch rotation.

309 Bistro and Waterman's are really good here in Edenton. I like walking over to Emilio's for lunch. Its a sandwich shop but he does great sandwiches

I travel the state for work so I keep a spreadsheet broken down by county. NC has some good ones but Saxapahaw General Store is always delicious and worth a stop.

Had chicken pastry, greens, and deviled eggs at Pam's yesterday.

Also had a little taste of mystery beer vomit when I walked past the door to the Goat on my way in.

Waffee Station in Micro is so damn good. Crickets in Smithfield...you'd think you would get some sort of disease or food poisoning but it is great, especially for the price.

Sitti for Mediterranean
Sushi 9
La Santa (a little pricey for mexican food)

Clearly your liberal bias is showing because you haven't been to these places in Mt Pleasant/IOP/Sullivans area:

Locals Sushi
Crave Kitchen and Cocktails
Basil
Mex 1 Coastal Cantina (Sullivans Island)
Dunleavy's Pub (SI) (where I've seen Les Robinson on multiple occasions )

Then you go and leave out the Wreck of Richard & Charlene

How do you not got to Charlotte and immediately not drive to Thai Taste?

No Skull Creek Boathouse for HHI?

You need to take a long look at how you're living your life man.

LOL. I blame the media.

I'm more embarrassed that for Charlotte, I left out the original OGs:
South21 (I prefer the one in Matthews)
Price's Chicken Coop.
That place has served us for probably 50 birthday parties with the family down thru the years.

Oh, and I agree with you on the Skull Creek Boathouse. We are usually down there with a big group, so rarely try to go to such a crowded place, but hard to beat the food and view!

Keaton's BBQ in Cool Springs. Don't let the name fool you. Disregard the "bbq" because their chicken is the star of the show. It may be the best chicken that I've ever eaten (sorry, Grandma, RIP). It's 100 miles out of the way worth the drive good.

And, don't let the look of the place fool you. If there ever was a place worthy of being on "Diners, Drive In's and Dives", this place would be at or near the top just based on appearance.

Anyone ever eat at Abrams in Tarboro? I was working in the area about 10 years ago and ate there every day for lunch for about a week. Had an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for pretty cheap. Excellent southern "home style" food for the price. Haven't been back since, and can't say how it is now.

In Raleigh, Bida Manda - a Laotian restaurant and bar - has been one of our long time favorites for a nice dinner out, but it's gotten really popular over the last five years and you have to plan ahead.

Danny's BBQ in Cary has been our go to BBQ joint. Great ribs and potato salad.

Thank you for not including that utterly disgusting place called RO's. If Gastonia ever needed an enema, the tip of the bottle should be inserted there.

Never tried RO's. Being from Belmont, in the '60s, you would have to pass Tony's to get there, so why would you?

For the best in country cooking in the Triangle area, Angie's Restaurant in Garner is the best !
We get food for my Father from there 2-3 times a week.

Here is the Friday special ....flounder, shrimp, and oysters, with collards, pinto beans, baked potato, and special strawberry cake. Very generous servings and delicious !!

Glad this thread came back around, though after only having a protein shake for lunch, seeing Tootie's picture is making me slobber.

Also....almost every Charlottean has heard this, but the last month has been painful for the ol'time favorites. Both Prices' Chicken Coop and Zack's Hamburgers have closed. Small family run operations, myriad of reasons decided to move on. Whatever other reasons we want to assign to why both closed...one sure thing, family-run restaurants is difficult business!

Yeah sucks to see Prices' go. I heard they owned the land that the restaurant was on. Rumor is they're going to sell it. If they do, they'll make a nice chunk of change

Yes, the owner essentially blamed Covid-issues, which is fine, and perhaps contributed, or at least made operations difficult. But yes, heard he stood to also sell and make $$ -- and more power to him.

For Zack's, I read that the owner basically said he was tired. Always there, never a break. Hard to blame someone for that. And two, thats likely a pretty $$ property as well nowadays.
