I'm about two weeks out from my own presumed case. Been trying to get back in the flow of things, but still low on energy. Weird thing is that I feel exhausted, but I can't sleep. I've been trying to get back into my workout schedule by walking the last few days. Today I tried to get in some light work with the medicine ball but had to stop after about fifteen minutes when I started to get a bad headache. Hoping for a return to normal sometime soon.
Just a guy on the sunshine squad.

Sorry for being late. I had some things to get done for work this afternoon and now I am sitting in the media room at PNC, waiting to photograph the State vs Virginia Tech basketball game.

As to the UK, I do not believe the difference in vaccination rates is a reason for the lifting of all of their mandates. As to schools, they have been maskless for a long time and only put it back into effect for 12+ age students when cases started to spike for Omicron. Now that cases are starting to decline (they are far from the bottom), they are returning back to normal. As I mentioned before, they have not required masking for 11 and under age groups, due to the negative impact on their learning. This is a far cry from policies in the US. It is is also more closely aligned with the rest of the European countries than it is to the US. The US has been an outlier as it comes to masking, compared to the other European nations.

As far as vaccination rates go, 90% of those aged 12 and up have received at least one dose of the four vaccines approved in the UK and 83% of those 12 and older have received two doses. Additionally, 36 million booster doses have been administered. In the US, 85% of those aged 12 and older have received one dose and 72% of this same age group have received two doses. So, there is a difference of 11% for those who are fully vaccinated between the two age groups.

If you look at graph Wayland posted comparing cases per million in the UK and the US, you can see that here really is no difference in their peak, except for the fact the UK peaked slightly higher. This is with a higher vaccination rate and similar restrictions at the time of Omicron. I do believe previous infection immunity played a part in keeping the US's peak slightly lower. It is interesting that the UK does consider previous infection immunity as important and the US does not believe it matters. I really believe the UK is closer, mentally, to accepting the endemic nature of Covid that the US is far from accepting. In fact, UK leaders are openly discussing it, which is counter to what the US leadership is doing right now. So, many people in the US still believe Covid can be beaten.

I am not sure this helps, but these are my thoughts on the what is happening in the UK versus the US. I have a co-worker who lives in the US and we have discussed how Covid is viewed in the UK. His view is most people have moved on and come to accept a certain level of cases and deaths. I do not believe the US is there yet.

The MMWR showing that unvaccinated but prior infection gave a large degree of protection was interesting.

MMWRs are basically the CDC propaganda, so I question their motivation to pivot all of a sudden in providing a study that shows an original series vaccination or infection both provided good protection (pre-Omicron).

And then follow that up with the President standing at a podium today saying "GET BOOSTED". I still think this blanket boosting greatly lacks nuance and I continue to be astounded at the simple minded thinking of the federal public health posse.

Actually, politics is driving the restrictions removal in the UK as well. BJ is getting very bad polling numbers as Labour's support is surging.

Correct. They will continue to move the goalposts like they have the entire time. Maybe once all preschooler are officially boosted, they'll end the restrictions. Then they'll have broad support.

I haven't read the article by Prasad.

I completely agree that "appeal to authority" is a fallacy of argument. Everything should be established based on the actual evidence/facts and logic, and not on whoever has the perceived "authority" or "expert" promoting their position.

In this case, I was just responding to Civ's argument alleging that Werewolf had stated that the only thing that mattered about Prasad was his age -- when in actuality Werewolf was not citing just his age, but also his vastly inferior experience and knowledge related to the subjects at issue.

If I was making an argument in detail about who was right about all of these things, most of the time that is going to involve citing evidence (if the evidence is available). If evidence is not available, depending on the issue, then you may just be relying on the opinions of "experts" or "authorities" on the subject. If, for example, we are talking about whether spike proteins are (or will) cause heart attacks and other harmful effects...we can look at the evidence that is available, but we can also get the opinion of genuine experts on the subject as to what will/may happen.

IN my opinion he basically used his opinion on certain things he disagreed with McCullough and Malone on, but stood behind other things . Never did he completely disprove anything they said.

IN my opinion he basically used his opinion on certain things he disagreed with McCullough and Malone on, but stood behind other things . Never did he completely disprove anything they said.
I agree with you on that, but he did challenge them on some of their points to provide the proof to be reviewed by academic peers.

Malone is easy to listen to because he's a gray hair with a pleasing voice and he's well spoken, and there's no denying he did some ground breaking research showing you could get mRNA into the cell using lipid carriers. But to blindly champion him based on credentials as the only truth in this matter is to disregard blatantly obvious issues that give me pause:

1. How many patients with covid has he treated? His degree and his basic science research do not impart a magical expertise in treating covid, any more than he's an expert at taking out a brain tumor based on those credentials. The guy who finds the cure for a brain tumor in the lab isn't the guy who is gonna operate on your brain tumor.

2. His wife's rant about how his lack of recognition over mRNA technology and the subsequent advent of vaccines has so deeply affected him on a personal and psychological level was eye opening. There is no way he isn't biased if you believe one word of his wife's rant. He was a nobody to anybody who champions him now except for a very small circle of scientists stuck in basic research labs. Until he got 200,000 followers by talking about vaccines for which he wasn't receiving the recognition he so deserved. Can you make a strong argument that his 200k followers isn't a prime example of his mass formation psychosis?

3. Basic science research is like a relay race. Dudes discover things, and another lab grabs the baton and runs with it. Malone found a way to get mRNA into a cell using lipids, but 100s of subsequent labs grabbed that baton and did the work to create the science behind the current vaccines, especially getting them to clinical trial. That's often the most difficult step - getting stuff from the lab into human subjects to try to affect a cure. (To liken such to the Nuremberg trials is a ridiculous argument imho, but i digress). So where are all these really intelligent scientists who came after Malone and used his findings to create the vaccines? Are they ignorant to what Malone knows? Or are they complicit in the great conspiracy? Are they forced by an outside entity to remain hush hush about the horrors the vaccines pose to humanity? Certainly Malone isn't the only one who knows, right?

Answer those questions with a reasonable answer and I'll consider changing my mind. But for now, I'll listen to him, consider the few points he makes that i think are valid, continue to think for myself, not turn a blind eye to my own observances, and hope he's wrong and things don't start falling off. But they'll fall off him too since he's inexplicably vaccinated.

Where did this rant from his wife come from? Perhaps as part of the hit pieces published by the liberal magazine that attacked him. Perhaps it's legit and our government overlords truly do have our best interests at heart.

After his interview by that magazine he was banned from Twitter. He said in the Rogan interview that they never explained their reasoning. His guess was one of his last tweets where he was discussing side effects and the need for the usual transparency required by the FDA and always readily apparent on drug commercials.

I didn't hear the voice of someone desperate for recognition. I heard someone concerned about side effects and appalled by the narrative aimed at suppressing said discussion. With this highly political environment though, it's not surprising that anyone challenging the narrative will become a lightning rod for attention, usually of the negative variety.

Yep, we've all had lingering effects here, 2 weeks in. Nothing major, just can't shake the cough, still getting headaches, wife's throat started hurting.
All that, I feel fortunate....so many have had true suffering (a relatively young and seemingly healthy coworker with young kids just died from Covid), so when its just prolonged cold / flu like symptoms, i can tolerate that

Unlike you, I"ve had no issues sleeping, though some nighttime cough medicine has helped with that!

A large US study by the CDC of hospitalizations in CA and NY during the Delta wave shows people with prior infection from Covid-19 are more protected from hospitalization than someone who is fully vaccinated. People who had prior infection and vaccination were hospitalized even less.

My conclusion, we should recognize people who have been infected in the past as fully vaccinated. Vaccination is a safer way for most to get immunity, but immunity from past infection is just as important. What we do not know from the study is the impact on deaths, but you can assume there is some positive impact on deaths as well.

When will the CDC change their guidance on vaccinations, as it relates to immunity and protection from hospitalization? In the EU, they have recognized past-infection immunity as part of their vaccination passport.

Recognizing past infection as at least same/same with vaccination seems like a no-brainer at this point.

Tucker pushes the envelope as well as anyone on FoxNews. Yep, let's save the world from a somethin' nanometer size virus by injecting everyone on the planet with an unknown concoction that Big Pharma doesn't want its contents released for 75 years.

And what a coincidence, most every Govt around the world, and certainly those persons attending those meetings in DAVOS, in unison, demand we inject ourselves with these contents.

Please look past the tree as there truly is a forest! GAS LIGHTING will not stop until we the people exterminate those behind it. It's across essentially every issue of our times. Do you really think Russia invading Ukraine is a legitimate concern such that you'd send your sons and daughters to fight the Russian army there on their border?

The American people have been at war with the CCP and those who created it - rigorously - for at two years...and most of us don't know it. Our Corporate media won't tell you the truth and the captured Federal Govt won't either. Mile markers I'm aware of include the Act of 1871, the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, the assassination of JFK to name a few. The particulars of how WW1 and WW2 were started will some come to light. Off topic somewhat but it all ties together.

Yep, we've all had lingering effects here, 2 weeks in. Nothing major, just can't shake the cough, still getting headaches, wife's throat started hurting.
All that, I feel fortunate....so many have had true suffering (a relatively young and seemingly healthy coworker with young kids just died from Covid), so when its just prolonged cold / flu like symptoms, i can tolerate that

Unlike you, I"ve had no issues sleeping, though some nighttime cough medicine has helped with that!
I'll never be able to prove I had it back in January 2020 because I've since been vaxxed, but I remember just one night of shakes and shivers and a cough that wouldn't go away for a month. And there are quite a few Chicoms in my workforce. Maybe I didn't have it because I don't think I infected my co-workers nor the elderly relatives that live with me, but it was sure like no cold I ever had before. But yeah, I can relate to the cough that takes forever to shake.

From Rockerfeller's 2010 Operation Lockstep, the COVID Plan

After a rather long Phase 2 lockdown of 6 months plus, roll out the vaccination program and the vaccine certification and make it mandatory for everyone, giving priority access to those that submitted from the start and have those that are for it attack those that are against it, saying 'they are a threat and the cause of all the problems' by using words like "We can't go back to normal until everyone takes the vaccine." And people defying them are "hurting our way of life and therefore are the enemy." [In other words they are going to turn the people against each other.] If the majority of people go along with the agenda, then let those people enter the new system, the new normal, while limiting the minority that defied the agenda's ability to work, travel and live. If the majority of people go against the agenda, then release the Weaponized SARS/HIV/MERS Tribit Strain as a Phase 3 operation. A virus with a 30+% mortality rate as a final scare to punish the minority to quickly become the majority and give a final "We told you so" to those that didn't listen. Enact the new economy model. Microsoft patent 060606 crypto currency system using body activity data which is based on human behavior and willingness to submit. It is a tweaked version of the black mirrors 15 million merits program using food, water, shelter, and other essentials as a weapon of enforcement of the new economic system. Basically, do what we want and get rewarded. Gain credits score and gain more access to things you need to survive. Or go against what we want and get penalized. Lose credits score and lose access to things you need to survive. And that is your New World Order: technology on steroids where you have no option but to comply. And if anyone thinks that this isn't true, then go and check out some parts of China because they've already started some of the crypto currencies system in place in certain areas.
