The OSHA vaccine mandate case is now being heard by the Supreme Court. If you are interested in listening to oral arguments, you can do so at the following link. In early discussion, it seems clear some of the justices are leaning toward NOT issuing a stay of the order.

Brutal to listen to so far.

Justices are old. They appear out of touch with the actual data.

I agree. I have it running in the background while I am working. Kagan and Sotomayor are just making up facts to suit their views. I heard her say the 100,000 number and just shook my head. The lawyer she was questioning was using real data in his answers to her and she countered with a completely fabricated number to argue against him. When people lie to make an argument, they should lose the argument.

They live in a world where there are 70 genders, an unborn child "is not a human being" or it is acceptable to just murder unborn children, humans were not created but rather "evolved from monkies", and it's "morally acceptable" to steal from good people to "redistribute wealth" to derelicts. And many many more lies...like the "global warming" fraud.

They KNOWINGLY tell blatant lies. Right to your face.

The leaders of the communist Left are incredibly wicked...We're talking willing soldiers of Satan, arch deceivers destroying the world and everyone in it. And the masses who believe their lies are apathetic, lazy, wicked degenerates who love to believe lies.

I doubt it will, unfortunately. Based on the questions and made-up facts by some of the Supreme Court today, I am afraid the narratives and false information is more prevalent than most of us realize. It is shaping thoughts and behaviors in the US and it is not for the better.

The trend we are seeing in NY is playing out around the country, but the mainstream media was been very slow to report it. We have local media focused solely on Cases, so I have chosen to respond to their negative Tweets with more positive trends. Just yesterday, I responded to dire headlines on hospitalizations with my graph on deaths this Winter Wave compared to last Winter Wave. While a few appreciated it, one person took issue with it, since we have be more concerned about "long-Covid."

"Long-Covid" is a mask the "zero-Covid" followers wear. They hide behind it to argue that every Case of Covid has the potential to cause a person issues for years and even decades. To a "long-Covid" disciple, there are no off-ramps. They really believe Covid-19 can be controlled and eventually eradicated. Anyone who does not have their same level of concern and zeal for eradication is bad and an accomplice in future deaths of people from Covid. They refuse to acknowledge that Covid-19 is endemic and is NEVER going away. Covid has found a home in other animal species (deer as an example) and it is for this reason, it can NEVER be eradicated. To a "long-Covid" person, we must take vaccinations every 4 or 5 months and wear a mask when around others. To now do so, means you just want your neighbors to die.

Meck County saying 74% of cases now Omicron... could be even more now since that data is over 10 days old.

Just for reference STATEWIDE per NC DHHS,
Omicron first showed up in the state the week of Dec 11.
The next week Dec 18, Omicron represented at least 14% of cases
The week after Dec 25, Omicron represented at least 40% of cases.

The local data, may be showing it accelerating even faster.
CDC NowCast estimated at 95% nationwide by the New Year... but that is a forecast.

Some good news to start the morning. The percentage of hospitalized Covid patients in ICU continues to fall. The 14-day average has declined from 24% to 23% in just one week. This is the LOWEST it has been, since NCDHHS has been reporting the data.

Additionally, the percentage of hospitalized Covid patients on ventilators also continues to fall, as you can see from the attached chart. The percentage is now down to 12% and I do expect this number to continue to fall, as Omicron patients become the majority of those who are hospitalized.

This is news you will not get from your local mainstream media. They will continue to focus on cases and how bad everything is going with the Covid pandemic.

Well, the N&O is at least one local source reporting it. The headline on today's paper is "NC hospitals see more COVID patients but fewer in ICUs". For those that don't read the N&O, the article reports that "COVID-19 hospitalizations have soared in recent weeks, from fewer than 1,100 statewide in mid November to 3,099 on Wednesday, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services. But only about 20% of those patients were in an intensive care unit, down from nearly a third in late October. The portion of COVID-19 patients needing a ventilator has dropped, too, from 24% in late October to 13% now."

Interesting, using the CDC/HHS data the only age groups that are being admitted at a higher rate than their summer 2022 peak are 18-29 and over 70.

Over 70 is the most vaxxed. Incidentals? Weakening immune system? Leftover Delta?

(Would expect the data on the last day to update, doubt it is going down yet)

The case is supposed to go before the Supreme court this week and the court has said they will fast-track a decision. Most legal experts believe the court will strike it down and a decision could come fairly quickly. It is one of two cases the court will be hearing. There is a similar ruling that is also going before the court this week and legal experts are expecting a similar outcome.

One policy that applies to Federal contractors and is the one my company falls under, is not going before the court this week. It is still going through the courts and last I checked, a stay had been issued and the Biden administration is appealing.

The following article provides a good summation of the arguments against the two policies:

SCOTUS Should Nix Biden's Vaccine Mandates
I wish they'd knock down his mandate for executive branch employees, I don't want the choice of a booster or early retirement.
Wouldn't you rather not have a mandate for any free American? Or should Federal GOVT workers be the only ones given such an option............as currently Congress and employees of the Vaccine manufacturer do?

As I mentioned in a previous post, "long-Covid" is a mask the "zero-Covid" people wear. Their goal is an unscientific and irrational assumption that Covid can be eliminated. If you encounter these people, you should ask them to cite a study that shows Covid can be eradicated. You can also ask them to cite any peer-reviewed studies that show the "long-Covid" impacts on people who are vaccinated or have been previously affected by Covid.

I encourage people to take some time to read the linked Twitter thread below.

Fun read by the bad cat this morning.

https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/covid-policy-and-the-topology-of

Quote:

covid policy is these two things crashing into one another.
it's the mass psychology of the stock market colliding with the epidemiological gompertz pattern of viral spread and attenuation and just as in the other cases, it tends to get worst right before it starts getting better.
they key difference here is that disease has an exogenous pattern that drives human response, not a human emotional pattern that drives outward effects (like a market crash) so you cannot change the curves based on what you do, but you do tend to change what you do based on the input from the curve.
gompertz equations are complex multifactorials and i won't bore you with them beyond a couple key salients:
[ol]
  • they are the model by which epidemics work
  • they are easy, in early stages, to mistake for undamped exponential functions, but they are not. they rapidly attenuate and self limit at the top. always. this is an intrinsic function of immunity development and vulnerable population depletion.
  • [/ol]so you get a curve that looks like this:
the blue curve is a growth function, the red curve is how actual population dynamics (active cases) play out.

the problem, of course, is that this curve goes steepest right before it flattens out sharply. and that's right when humans panic because they cannot wrap their heads around damped functions. they just see exponential growth.
2 becomes 4. no big deal.
    4 becomes 8. yawn.
    8 becomes 16. huh.
    16 becomes 32. wait, what?
    32 becomes 64. oh no!
    you get the picture.
what's interesting is then 64 becomes 110. growth is slowing. but humans don't see that. they see a rise of 46, more that the last rise of 32. they think it's getting worse, but it's already getting better. and THIS is when they panic.

Basically what the link I just posted talks about.

Human panic and then attributing the decline to the mandate when case curve was already slowing.

I hate that the current NC data is corrupted by not 1 but 2 holiday disruptions, but it LOOKS like the growth rate has already started decreasing here as well. That certainly could just be holiday patterns mucking things up.

It is the fallacy of "control" when it comes to a endemic, highly infectious, airborne virus. Just ask them if they were able to prevent "catching a cold" in the past. We are dealing with a virus that spreads as easily, if not more easily than the common cold. You can practice all of the recommended steps (vaccination, wear a mask, stay away from people), but you will eventually become infected.

Infections among vaccinated people or people who have been infected in the past is not news and it does not need to be treated as such. We have to recognize that we have tools at our disposal now (vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, antivirals) that will help to limit the virus' impact on our lives. We have reached the point where people have to come to grips with what it means for a virus to be endemic and recognize it is not going away.

It is time to recognize that lockdowns and government ordered mandates will have little effect. For those who are not vaccinated, I recommend vaccination. If you are not boosted and are in a high risk category, I recommend considering getting boosted. You should discuss with you doctor if you have concerns and take their advice into consideration. If you are vaccinated and not symptomatic, are not working in an environment where you put people who are high risk, or have immediate family members who are high risk, you DO NOT need to line up for hours to be tested. Testing is for those people who meet the conditions I outlined.

If you are vaccinated, you can very well have a breakthrough case. In most cases, based on recent reports and data, your symptoms will be mild - more closely aligned with a cold. If you are vaccinated, the virus may evade your antibodies (even if boosted), but it will have a hard time surviving the reaction of your body's T and B-Cells. This is why a breakthrough infection for a vaccinated (and not necessarily boosted) person will be mild. It is your body's immune system acting in a way it is now programmed to act.

It's unfortunate that democrat policymakers use this to manipulate their constituency. Hopefully things change before but certainly after this year's elections. Ideally it doesn't take that long.

We ate dinner last night at a restaurant in Durham where NONE of the staff wore masks. It, sadly, pleased me to see this normalcy. They had the sign on their door about wearing a mask, as per Durham order, but did not follow the mandate. They will receive more patronage from our family.

I hate that the current NC data is corrupted by not 1 but 2 holiday disruptions, but it LOOKS like the growth rate has already started decreasing here as well. That certainly could just be holiday patterns mucking things up.

PH and policymakers need the theater to make it look like they are 'doing something'.

That's kind of my argument. The science says this thing disappears as quickly as it comes. So the mandate comes at the peak, and they will credit the mandate for the decline. BS

The employee mandates for companies with over 100 workers, is that still a go?

That should not be in question, my point is, Civ Servants seems to legally have less legal say in the matter than the general population.

^ If I understand correctly, what's being floated is employees of companies with 100+ employees are mandated to get the jabs - up to date. I believe the US Postal Service has gotten a waiver so far. How is that fair? Pfizer employees etc are getting waivers too.
