Regarding the inexcusable nature of where public health administrators landed, it's not like the US was a particular outlier in first-world countries though, is it? The US's lockdowns seemed less severe than much of Europe, for instance.
Regarding cost-benefit, it would be fascinating to see Sweden's cost-benefit equation. I'd love to see what their inputs and outputs were, and using that same equation what the US's outputs would have been given our differing inputs from Sweden's situation WRT health, poverty, health care, ER capacity, recommendation compliance, etc.

I'm not advocating for UHC or extolling its virtues. Sweden's income tax rate is approaching 60%. That wouldn't fly here.
But this whole discussion is centering around Sweden's approach to COVID.
Their health care system's ability to care for those that would get sick was undoubtedly a consideration.
Sweden is tops in the world in physicians per capita. They have twice as many per capita as the US does.
The US has three times as many uninsured people (30 million) as Sweden has people.
Our obesity rate is 2x theirs.
Our poverty rate is 2x theirs.
These things matter when it comes to underlying health, and access to health care.
Underlying health, and access to health care, matter when assessing cost/benefit of approaches to a deadly global pandemic.
We can talk about Sweden, but if we're going to let's make sure to talk about the important ways they are different from the US, in ways that may have been consequential when making public health policy.

And yet COVID policies in the U.S. were designed to place the heaviest burden on the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder. Already suffering from the poorest access to healthcare.
With less resources, they likely also suffered the most from lack of open schools
And all the while likely having jobs where they couldn't hide in their houses. therefore being exposed to a greater initial disease burden.

My 88-yr old dad and my 84-yr old mom........but perfectly healthy ......and I thought would both push 95-100. Now both struggle with balance, energy, strange ailments and my mom fell last week and now has a broken arm and wrist in rehab. Both got the Pfizer jabs in Jan/Feb. I just didn't know enough at the time to stand in the way. I don't think they make it a year. So many have simply trusted .......trusted Big Pharma, the MSM and their Federal Govt. But none of the three remain American; our federal govt has been captured. This is going to be a dismal 4-5 years under the best of circumstances.

Aren't SEALs required to kill enemy combatants as directed by their mission? Not sure how the dichotomy of having a job that requires you to kill but you are claiming a religious exemption against killing.
I'm sure the courts will work it out. Does anyone know if any of the other vaccines required by the Navy also originated via whatever process uses the embryonic cells? If so it may be hard for them to claim religious exemption against this one but not the battery of vaccines / shots they may have received once joining the Navy.
ETA: I don't know what the answer is, I just think it will be hard for them to claim a deeply held religious belief against killing when that's a requirement of their job. And they didn't object to it previously.

They are saying they do not want to get the vaccine because it goes against their religious beliefs, which killing does as well but that's a part of their job requirement. I'm trying to understand the carve out of one being OK in their religious belief and the other not. You will likely find that the courts / arbitrator of the decision has a hard time distinguishing as well.

We know that states like Vermont with some of the highest vax rates in the country are hitting pandemic highs and that a winter wave of cases is likely inevitable for areas who have not hit a high level of disease conferred immunity since vaccine protection against infection wanes after a few months.

In your professional opinion should I just cancel since she's loosing her license? Given what I know from the last year of intensive -- and I mean intensive - study of the censored exports I choose not to take the FLU vaccine for the 1st time. I may have missed a number of flu vaccines in my younger days. I see clearly the sinister nature of what's underway.
