Hey guys wanted to thank everyone that has posted facts and statistics. I am on the board of a private school in Charlotte and your information is helping us make decisions about our kids. We have had a few teachers lately who have been telling others that numbers are on the rise and that Covid has not peaked. I have been able to share real information and it has helped the uninformed realize they have not been getting fed the facts. So thanks guys you are awesome and helping my community.

There is some more in depth county level data out there in the data downloads that I wish I had time to dig through.

Case wise we are well on the downside of this wave in NC. Would expect we have about another month of decline, then we roll the dice on the winter. Hopefully Delta has burned its bridges.

"But it won't be viewed as a scientific failure, because science is dead; idiocy and innumeracy have won a total victory. And though I will continue to be deeply confused when I see masked bicyclists on campus, I have realized that there is an ironic logic to their decision: after all, there's no point in protecting your brain if you don't plan on using it. At Stanford, nobody expects you to do either."

Just like "herd immunity", "fully vaccinated" has now been redefined. Fauci, the drug salesman, says you need the booster shot to be "fully vaccinated".

Science.

So I started playing with the county data a little.

Interesting to see that the case distribution. Wake was more affected by 'Back to School' additional testing and Meck had a greater Labor day disruption.

The counties populations are 'close enough' that for this, I didn't adjust for population.

lol it has not been redefined. You just want to interpret it that way.

this is no different than how a flu shot would work. People get a flu shot each year if they dont want to get sick to boost their immunity to the flu(ie stay fully vaccinated against the flu)

Though I'm sure some crackpot will go on to say how these shots are nothing like a flu shot. yaddy yaddy yadda.

And a true crackpot is an anti-vaxxer. Peoples love for the Baby Boomer's savior Trump is literally killing them. it's just ****ing amazing to see. Person after person on their social media with anti-vax posts, dying one right after the other. True crackpots and crackpots right to the grave.

So redefining fully vaccinated is ok because businesses require patrons to pull up their pants. Lol. So stupid.

But Trump. Lol.

I tend to think the true crackpots are the ones that celebrate their neighbors dying from covid because they were unvaccinated. A true cult.

Forcing someone to be injected with a mystery concoction of who knows what in order to have a job, travel, or be able to buy and sell is the antithesis of everything America stands for. It's the epitome of tyranny. If we have the freedom to do anything, it should include what goes into our own bodies.

And f*** Trump. He was the one who pushed this vaccine, starting "operation warp speed" and is still pushing people to be injected. Trump is controlled opposition, and a lifelong Democrat and liberal who just pretended to be "conservative" and ran as a Republican. He talked like a conservative, but enacted policies of a Democrat -- pushing gun control (bump stock ban, red flag laws, etc), big spending and debt, and doing nothing to stop illegal immigration and actually signing some amnesty legislation, etc. He betrayed his conservative supporters.

If conservatives were in a "Trump cult" then they would all have followed Trump's advice and been injected with the poison right now.

And, by the way, in case you haven't heard...blacks and hispanics actually have a much lower vaccination rate than white Americans. So it's not even primarily "Trump supporters" who are not getting injected.

Here are the ingredients -

Pfizer-BioNTech = The vaccine includes the following ingredients: mRNA, lipids ((4- hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate), 2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, and cholesterol), potassium chloride, monobasic potassium phosphate, sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, and sucrose.

Moderna = The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine contains the following ingredients: messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA), lipids (SM-102, polyethylene glycol [PEG] 2000 dimyristoyl glycerol [DMG], cholesterol, and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine [DSPC]), tromethamine, tromethamine hydrochloride, acetic acid, sodium acetate trihydrate, and sucrose.

Yeah, right....like I trust Big Pharma (or the government) to be truthful about what's in the magic injections, and their actual side effects.

And I bet you believe that Joe Biden and the other top politicians actually took the shots at their photo ops too, right? More like a saline injection or empty syringe.

Side note on Meck. It looks like they have a 240 case jail outbreak. First showed up in CLF report with 52 cases on 9/7 and then up to 240 by 9/21. I am guessing some of that Labor Day disruption in Meck is actually jail cases as well.

Merck announces they have an antiviral pill that cuts the risk of hospitalization in half in at-risk patients who are showing early signs of Covid. They stopped their randomized trials early because of the hugely successful results and are applying for emergency use authorization in the US. The US has apparently placed an advance order (I forget the amount - a couple million doses I think).

If this works, it is great. I am continually skeptical with results that look THIS good.

But if it is real, would certainly be a game changer.

Quote:

A planned interim analysis of 775 patients in Merck's study found that 7.3% of those given molnupiravir were either hospitalized or had died by 29 days after treatment, compared with 14.1% of placebo patients. There were no deaths in the molnupiravir group, but there were eight deaths of placebo patients.

I assume they wouldn't stop the study if they weren't convinced it has a major positive effect. I'm sure if it were 5% vs 50% they wouldn't do that.

Great news.

The more efficacious vaccines and treatments we have, the better.

Would be an interesting psychology test case to see how many vaccine-hesitant Americans who were nervous about the vaccines approved under an EUA are willing to take this antiviral under an EUA.

Would likely be a medical corollary to "there are no atheists in foxholes."

When inputs change, outputs change. If you're unvaxxed and think you have COVID there's the real possibility your risk/reward analysis changes quickly regarding what you're willing to ingest to hedge against serious illness or death.

Complete game changer. Eliminates the tribalism of the vaccinated vs unvaccinated. Although, that's a big part of one segment of society's entire belief structure now, so I expect it will take time.

Quote:

The COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. is ebbing, but you would never know it from the headlines. Bad news, accurate or not, sells. And in the case of COVID-19, it also supports the journalists' prejudices.

The ICU capacity figures cited in the article also lack context. What is the normal utilization level for the ICUs in those states? Most trauma-center and tertiary-care-center ICUs routinely functioned at 8090 percent of capacity even before the pandemic. And ICU beds are not a static resource.

In a study of 13 academic medical centers across the country during the first wave of the pandemic (MarchJune 2020), only five reported an ICU census on at least one day that exceeded their overall pre-pandemic ICU capacity. Only two exceeded pre-pandemic capacity for more than 17 days. COVID-19 patients were a quarter of the median daily ICU census during this period. All of the 13 centers were able to increase their ICU capacity to accommodate COVID-19 patients by limiting elective, non-emergent procedures and by shifting providers and beds into medical ICU usage. Staff and beds from other types of ICUs and recovery rooms were repurposed for critically ill COVID-19 patients.

The suggestion in many articles is that people who refuse vaccination are forcing widespread life-and-death choices. Journalists appear to be channeling President Biden who, in remarks late last week, chastised "the unvaccinated [who] overcrowd our hospitals, overrunning emergency rooms and intensive care units, leaving no room for someone with a heart attack or a cancer operation needed to get the lifesaving care because the places where they would get that care are crowded; they are not available."
This article does a good job of providing background on ICU usage before and during the pandemic. The Media in this country is doing more harm than good with all the misinformation they promote and narrative support they provide. Shameful!

Getting shape is a lot of work. It takes a lot of discipline, uncomfortable effort and learning. Getting a shot, putting a cloth over your face for brief periods of time and scorning those who don't is a lot less work and a lot more fun for one's ego. "To seem, rather than to be."
