It's certainly possible a Chinese lab full of animal viruses being studied had a leak. We'll never know for sure. Of course since Trump quickly turned Covid into a culture war issue (to salvage his reelection chances, in case you're wondering who's "evil" here) the leak theory became a political football. At the end of the day, though, who cares? Labs won't stop studying animal viruses regardless.
