Something else the mainstream media and the CDC/health policy experts never accepted is the protection one gets from previous infection. A couple of months ago, I posted a study out of Israel that showed immunity from past infection is real and is stronger than immunity from vaccination. Here is a report of another study that shows antibody production is stronger from natural infection than it is from vaccination. Yet, many areas implemented vaccine passports that completely ignored the protection one has from natural infection.

Do you think the pace we created a vaccine had an impact on immunity from vaccines? Is anyone taking the time to develop a better vaccine?
Here comes some more woke excuse making.

I am far from woke. Travel all over the world and deal with a number of different countries policies. So thought I would ask someone who I appreciate their contribution on this site what their thoughts are on the vaccine.
OK, I'll withdraw my comment then based on your above response... it was strongly based upon your opinions in your normal posts on the site, but I'll acknowledge that there could be a separation on ones sports-based opinions v. political-based opinions. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong...
I have no idea where you would think my sports posts make me woke. Just to see what your reply is I have been tested well over 100 times the past two years. Have had 3 serology tests and am fully vaccinated. What is your issue with people being tested?
If you were required to be tested for your employment, that's one thing... if you tested for any other reason, then maybe my first post was spot on to begin with. Fortunately, I'm in a situation where I can pretty much work for whoever I want and not have to put up with such manufactured nonsense.

I'll leave it at that for now...
I also work for myself. I travel the world with my job. Required to test to get into most countries. What's the big deal? Hell I flew from the US to Japan on my way to Singapore and got sent home because the test was not exactly how Japan thought it should be documented. 48 Hours later finally in Singapore but had to fly through the Mid East. Took a couple more tests on the way. Lots of countries require me to test while I am there. Again what is the big deal with testing? Do I believe the tests are the end all and 100% accurate. Nope. But if I am required to take them I do.
So why not just say that you had to be tested because of your employment?

No one is making me get tested. Not like I work for a company that tells me that in order to do my job I need to be tested. I work for myself. I do not have to go overseas to find work. I enjoy that. And Wake based on CDC's new garbage metrics is now Yellow...... only not Green due to rounding (9.99% staffed inpatient would be Green).

Still Red on CDC's old Garbage Metrics

183 cases per 100k per week (Reported)
7.1 new admits/100k
10% staffed inpatient.

Now this is the CDC counting. Just funny how arbitrary these things are.

Oh no! Not the swab end of the PCR. What about when they took my blood with a needle? Should I worry about that test also. It looked like just a normal needle but who knows.

Is it the swab end of the PCR test that has you guys worried about testing? If so not all swab ends are equal!

Not that we care about metrics because they are trash and arbitrary.

But Wake went from Red -> Green in the new metrics literally overnight.

The CDC are lazy ****s so only update their new arbitrary map once a week, but still publish their 'mostly backlogged' numbers daily so I have been following.

WRAL put out articles yesterday and today stressing about masks coming off when ARBITRARY metrics were still high.

But, here is your new map.

Here was last week's trash arbitrary map.

I still come away with nothing other than the fact that the data is not pure... ie. manipulated.

The CDC is not 'agile' at all with their data. They are slow to process and respond even when it is right in front of them.

Media is even more incompetent and data illiterate.

When the new metrics first came out last week, I called that Wake would roll over to Yellow on Wednesday and Green quickly follow (when accounting for CDC backlog and slow data). And voila, there it is.

I considered pointing this out to WRAL when they put out their hysteria articles. That if you stopped looking at the CDC graphic (that is only updated weekly) and just hit F5 and look at the numbers, you can see the true status (delayed as it may be because of reporting delays) has changed.

On the downside of the case curves the reporting becomes severely lagged. So the numbers right now are actually MUCH better than current reporting (and I still am not ruling out a spring bump)

You can see here how much lower the collected cases are by date than the reported cases.

What is happening is that the near term backlog right now is almost zero. Basically, cases that are being collected now, are being collected AND reported within 5 days. But we are still getting a TON of long backlog... something like 40% of the cases from today are over a month old (January/December cases).

And OF COURSE, the CDC and all the metrics calculations use REPORTED cases (which as cases get low is HIGHLY susceptible to backlog).

None of this is complex. Just no one wants to take 5 minutes and actually LOOK at the numbers.

But again, this is against arbitrary metrics and the CDC is a failed institution... so there is that.

Also, none of this should matter for the most part.

Will the war outlast the spring bump.

Completely off topic, we went from like 40% of the cases being over a month old last week to over 50% (some days almost 60%) of the cases being over a month old back from January/December this week.

Recent days (past 3-5 days) cases are reported quickly and then there is a month gap and they keep finding these cases from January/December.

Not that any of this matters (in reality)... but the stupid arbitrary CDC metrics use REPORTED cases... so the fact that cases being reported are double what the actual cases are affect the metrics.

Now, if can all just agree to ignore the CDC then none of it matters anyways.

I still look at the data daily, out of habit. Again, if only to be ready when insane politicians and public health want to re-implement useless NPIs.

I've had that thought several times over the last couple of weeks.

I obviously don't want it to take a war for it to happen, but it's been great to not hear about COVID as soon as you open a web browser or turn on the TV or have a notification pop up on your phone.

Crazy that there was a two-day gap a few days ago on this thread. I'm sure that that's the first time that's happened since Runs started it many moons ago.

I am still downloading and entering data in my massive spreadsheet. I have noticed lags in not only case reporting, but also deaths. Some deaths reported in the past few days are over a year old. I was waiting for the dust to settle before doing some analysis on the Omicron wave and deaths. It appears most of the deaths reported during Omicron were likely Delta infections, but I need the data to resolve itself before publishing my analysis. I also expect to see a Spring bump in infections and hospitalizations to start in the next couple of weeks. It appears it may already be happening in the UK and of course, the scary tweets are starting to appear.

I did see a study posted recently that showed mask mandates in schools were not effective, but did not see any reason to post it, since we are moving on from mandates right now, except for some media at college sporting events. Below are the written guidelines we were provided for the women's ACC Tournament this past weekend.

Mask Policy

Photographers and other media on the court are required to wear a mask at the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament. Masks are encouraged, but not required, on press row and in the postgame press conference area (Odeon Theatre).

So, I had a mask on while on the court, but did not wear one in the photographer's workroom. We also were not allowed to go on the floor after State's women won the championship (while the team was initially celebrating), until they setup the ropes in front of the stage. Only team photographers, ACC photographers, and ESPN were allowed. They cited Covid as the concern, but we believe it was actually done to keep the number of people on the court immediately after the game to a minimum. Despite all of this, I did get some good pictures for the three games I photographed.

I think that's a definite, completely agree. I think if they had quickly identified the need for those that were older to be more focused on distancing safely / isolating as needed, as well as immuno-compromised, we would've been a lot better off in the beginning.

First, I would have listened to the science on therapeutics! We, as a country, disputed them as dangerous, don't work, and really all kinds of things…

I don't know how many lives would have been saved; however, we never gave them a chance. To me, that's kind of sad!

Not destroyed the economy, education, ignored every other illness and overall public health. The real cost in life years lost for COVID policies on things OTHER than COVID is going to be astronomical.

Resources should have been focused on the most vulnerable and everyone else should have basically been going about their business. Could have spent a fraction of the trillions printed into supporting LTC. Even providing actual sick leave or early retirement for those truly at risk.

Would have there been those that took advantage of it? Sure. But as it is, we have an entire country full of COVID grifters.

We knew the risk stratification in January 2020. It really never changed.

By June 2020, life should have been mostly normal for everyone outside of LTC. And by not normal in LTC, I mean providing additional resources for support, testing, leave etc. The ACTUAL isolation policies implemented likely killed a crap ton of people who just 'gave up'. As seen in the winter 20-21 numbers, whatever actual policies NC implemented largely did nothing to spare LTC facilities... because the death toll with COVID in LTC was substantial.

All we had to do was not panic.

EDIT: And at this point Public Health/Politicians should admit school/business closures, mask mandates, etc largely DID NOTHING and APOLOGIZE for the harms and division caused by these bad policies.

I agree with Cary here. I lot of the "follow the science" talk was actually not about science but about control. I can't believe I'm going to write this but, a lot of Marxist theory is based on that same premise. Now, I don't believe in a marxist takeover of America, or this is some plot by some sort of grand conspiracy, BUT, a lot of this "follow the science" talk turned into a religion for some, who have temporarily replaced their religion of global warming with the pandemic.
