I am not a subscriber of The Atlantic, so I don't know the percentage of progressive to conservative pieces, but I have the general sense that the majority are left to hard left. I know they did the hit piece on Robert Malone that likely supported group think banning from Twitter shortly afterward. They also carry pieces written by Kevin Williamson from National Review. I wonder how the average subscriber reacts to these conservative pieces. Are they ignored as token outliers presented solely for balance or do they actually induce more critical thinking? Rhetorical question I suppose.

The Atlantic backtracked on hiring Kevin Williamson due to woke staff outrage. They do, however carry David French pieces.
Jeffrey Goldberg has basically turned the Atlantic into Salon now. They occasionally have interesting pieces about school covid policy and the like but if all you did was read their coverage of the Omicron variant you'd think it was the plague 2.0

The Atlantic has had a few good articles like this, and I appreciate them using their platform to post pieces like this.
As someone who's own politics don't fit well in a neat box with with current political parties... I think articles like this and Bari Weiss' rant on Bill Maher on Friday show that there is a broader consensus on a lot of these issues and letting 'kids be kids' is not some kind of far right extremist only view.
But we are letting a handful of extreme covidphobic monomaniacs and elites continue to dictate failed policies and attempt to shame any who disagree.
The more rational and center/left people that speak up the better because we need all the voices to quell these hysterics in public health, policy, and entertainment/media.
For sure, and you're starting to see more articles like this even on traditionally left media.
That's obviously overdue, and a good thing just like it was good to have contrarian, pro-vaccine viewpoints on Fox six months ago; we'd all be better off with less siloed left/right media sources and more mainstream publishing of different viewpoints from the same news source.

The MSM are starting to hype the latest "strain" of Covid-19. Do not fall for it. It is not a new strain - it is Omicron. It is a subvariant of Omicron. A couple of virologists I follow on Twitter do not believe it will lead to a new outbreak and spike in cases. They believe it could prolong the peak in cases and cause cases to fall more slowly, but not lead to another spike we just went through with the first version of Omicron.

Additionally, the common cold is caused by more than a coronavirus. There are also rhinoviruses (10-40% of cold infections) that cause colds and these also mutate. Add to this RSV and parainfluenza. These contribute to about 20% of all cold infections.. All of these viruses make up what we know as the common cold. It is thought that a couple of the coronaviruses that cause the common cold got their start as deadly pandemics. Reportedly Denmark is seeing mostly the BA.2 version of Omicron. This is what is giving some people the idea that BA.2 may be more transmissible, but no more severe than BA.1. In the US, BA.1 has been around since early December and it has not overtaken BA.1 (similar thing happening in the UK),so I am not sure if it is more transmissible or not. I do have a question regarding ways to attack Covid (even from the beginning). Understanding the initial strain was the most lethal (I think) the vaccines appears to have slowed down the death rate; however, we've had more deaths since the vaccine became normal vs pre vaccine (correct me if I'm wrong).
Should we have followed the suggestion and/or opinions of Doctors that said: "you shouldn't vaccine into the teeth of the virus"?
Their argument was outlined almost identically to the points in your post, including the use of therapeutics from the very beginning. Supposedly, this would have allowed the virus to mutate itself into the endemic as you've stated…
