That is usually limited to private schools offering aid scholarships; not public schools like us and UNC

This is a very cynical take, but we're going to spend $15MM basically for half a turf field, a players lounge and a couple of picnic tables in th outfield, and still be in the bottom third of the league as far as facilities. I'm hopeful we're holding something back for the new coach, whenever that time comes. Otherwise it's going to be a tough job to fill and expect any better results than we've gotten.

Agreed. Big time. NC state baseball is probably my favorite team on campus, and these last 2 hears have been pitiful. Aside from that 2021 sweep, UNC has absolutely owned us. I think the Preston palmiero team was the last to beat UNC in a series?

Has a lot to do with them actually caring about baseball though. Look at their stadium. Look at their facilities.
Stadium and facilities are material things. Measurable things if you will. This team lacks the unmeasurable things. Heart, determination, will to win and passion. Just my .02

We can't recruit with the big boys without those shiny toys.

I see nothing wrong with your take. That's our future, as it stands.
When Doak is completely renovated, who will NC State have better facilities than?

I can give two for sure, Duke and Notre Dame. The former won the 2021 ACC title. The latter had the best ACC regular season record in 2021 and reached the CWS in 2022.

Maybe Wake Forest too? They are absolutely loaded this season.

I would love to hear from folks here as to what other schools that they think will have a park worse than Doak. This is an honest question, especially for those who have traveled to see NC State play at some of those places.
After the renovations, Doak will still be above Duke and Notre Dame. I think all other stadiums are even or better. I have personally seen UVA, VaTech, Wake, UNC, FSU, Duke, Louisville, and Georgia Tech's stadiums.

Not to diminish our swimming program's sustained excellence, but there are about 20 schools in the country that give a **** about swimming. And baseball, when done properly with an emphasis on fan experience and amenities, has proven the ability to draw 6-8k or more spectators at schools with similar profiles as NC State. We can do better, and if we want to compete for championships going forward, we will have to.

It is reality, unfortunately. Especially where it's related to pitching prospects. I don't think there's any coincidence that Wake has seen a huge jump in their pitching performance and recruiting since they partnered with Baptist hospital and opened their Pitching Lab in 2019. Top arms that go to college want stuff like this. We don't have it so we're not getting the top arms on campus. I'm not talking about the Landen Maroudis types that commit and have zero chance at coming to school. I'm talking about Rhett Lowder barely touching 90 out of HS and now he sit at 93-96. Seth Keener is a mid 90s guy now and wasn't that in HS. Their "Lab" helped them land two stud transfers as well in Massey and Sullivan. Their closer, Minacci, pumps 94-97. We need us one of them there "Labs". ha

I know we're supposed to be building our very own Pitching Lab, let's hope it's one of the first things we build.

You have to have people that know how to build and utilize a pitching lab. "New School" coaches that fully embrace technology have proven to do quite well at all levels of baseball. Unfortunately, we have an "Old School" coaching staff.IMO.

Wake's pitching lab has definitely helped them recruit pitchers to their program. Not only does Wake have the pitching lab, but they have fully staffed it with people to run it and provide analysis. The equipment is portable and can be used for more than just baseball.

Wake is using the equipment for other sports. Soon after the lab was created, they brought the equipment to the football indoor facility and used it to record the kickers going through their practice drills. The information was provided to the kickers and they were able to use it, in concert with their personal kicking coach to analyze their mechanics and make adjustments. They have also used it with their men's and women's golf team. I would think State could do something very similar, if they also have a pitching lab.

Swimming to baseball is as apples and oranges as it gets, and I think Holloway would admit that too.

The "don't care about facilities" folks would be better served referencing 2021 ACC champion Duke, 2022 CWS participate Notre Dame, and 2023 Wake Forest to bolster their case.

Program 3 years removed from nearly winning a national championship.

Games to play this year.

Yeah, no idea where we go.

2nd year in a row not making regionals. 2nd year in a row with no real improvement throughout the year. That CWS feels like a lifetime ago.

What's going to change next year? That's really what I'm wondering. Is there reason for optimism?

This year still isn't done.

Last year we were snubbed by the committee and there was generally agreement on that.

Without more investment n the program I'm not sure what people expect.

Given where we are, you just want to be in the hunt to be able to make a run. Avent has us in that position more often than not.

Wake is working with the old Ernie Shore Field, which probably benefited from the taxpayers to some extent (or maybe not). I've often wondered what the big garage thing behind right field is for. Doak has a bigger concourse but doesn't really offer much more.

As I said in an earlier post, the Doak renovations does have some lipstick on a pig-look to it. I'd love to be wrong.
