Man. This program is in big trouble. I have no idea where we go from here.

It is reality, unfortunately. Especially where it's related to pitching prospects. I don't think there's any coincidence that Wake has seen a huge jump in their pitching performance and recruiting since they partnered with Baptist hospital and opened their Pitching Lab in 2019. Top arms that go to college want stuff like this. We don't have it so we're not getting the top arms on campus. I'm not talking about the Landen Maroudis types that commit and have zero chance at coming to school. I'm talking about Rhett Lowder barely touching 90 out of HS and now he sit at 93-96. Seth Keener is a mid 90s guy now and wasn't that in HS. Their "Lab" helped them land two stud transfers as well in Massey and Sullivan. Their closer, Minacci, pumps 94-97. We need us one of them there "Labs". hancsuchris said:Brigand said:I don't care if we make a change or not, but facilities is always a fallback argument when we don't do well, not just in this sport.DecaturWolf said:

You have to have people that know how to build and utilize a pitching lab. "New School" coaches that fully embrace technology have proven to do quite well at all levels of baseball. Unfortunately, we have an "Old School" coaching staff.IMO.CLTWolf said:It is reality, unfortunately. Especially where it's related to pitching prospects. I know we're supposed to be building our very own Pitching Lab, let's hope it's one of the first things we build.
Wake's pitching lab has definitely helped them recruit pitchers to their program. Not only does Wake have the pitching lab, but they have fully staffed it with people to run it and provide analysis. The equipment is portable and can be used for more than just baseball.CLTWolf said:It is reality, unfortunately. Especially where it's related to pitching prospects. Program 3 years removed from nearly winning a national championship.
1 year removed from ACC title game appearance.
Current RPI of 24 in an admittedly disappointing year.
Games to play this year.
Yeah, no idea where we go.

Yeah, no idea where we go.
2nd year in a row not making regionals. 2nd year in a row with no real improvement throughout the year. That CWS feels like a lifetime ago.
What's going to change next year? That's really what I'm wondering. Is there reason for optimism?

Yes I would. Unless something has changed, I have not seen State planning to cover any portion the fan seating area. This is just one example. Wake has other stadium improvements planned, as do several other ACC schools.
