We really need the Green from non-conference to show back up.
100% agree. Nixon should be starting every game. Sometimes, Avent really does some confusing things. I was shocked when I saw Trice starting at left tonight. I thought last weekend's lineup was a good one and one that we would see more regularly. Save Trice for weeknight games, but leave Nixon in for the ACC games.pack2010 said:
Starting trice over Nixon is just avent overthinking it again.
Shame the defense has not been good behind him. .Borowolf10 said:
7 from Whitaker in a big game.
I agree with you. I thought it was an error as well.Rob McLamb said:wilmwolf80 said:
I don't agree with ruling that an error with the fielder running into the bullpen fence while completing the catch. Our official scorer is pretty harsh.
I'm at the park and I (respectfully) disagree. In my mind, it was an error. It has to be rated as an error because both of the runners took a base that they otherwise would not have gotten on that play.

I mean that was absolutely horrible all around from the team. Pathetic to come out like that in a series this big.

It's unfortunate game is deemed a "sellout" when there are entire chunks of open seats in season ticket sections. The row my seats are in hasn't had people in every seat all season... It's also unfortunate the once we got on a win streak and people started showing up again at the park, we laid an egg like last night. Fielding was decent, but Whitaker was awful from the start. And problem with this staff is, if the starters are awful, the middle relief isn't much better... We lack the total shutdown middle innings guy that we typically have.

Yeah, pitching is feast or famine, which will probably prevent us from making a deep run this year. I also feel like our hitting dies when our starters come out shaky because we lose our patience and don't take good at bats

It's weird that baseball is as much of a statistic centric sport as any, yet the observers here seem to frequently have takes that are in conflict with the statistics.
Well, are you surprised that it's usually the same uninformed few that wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to baseball (or insert sport here)?wilmwolf80 said:

I heard earlier in the week he was going to be back this weekend but never saw anything from anyone to help confirm and he didn't play last night, so, I'm very pleasantly surprised tonight.Alex Gee said:
Soles back in the lineup. DH'ing and hitting leadoff. Huge for State.
Man, these stats are wild. We should be in such a better spot than we currently are. Hopefully we can take these 2CLTWolf said:ClePack said:89_Grad said:

Our in pitching in conference play has the 2nd lowest ERA behind Wake, the 2nd least number of earned runs behind Wake and 3rd in total runs given up. We're 3rd in hits given up behind Wake and Louisville and we've given up the 3rd least amount of walks. Teams are hitting .236 against us in conference which is good for 2nd overall. The staff doesn't give up a lot of extra base hits or HRs as we're at the top of the league in those metrics as well. Our pitching isn't going to be what prevents us from making a deep run this year, hell, it's what's kept us in it to this point.
