I just came on to see where we are playing and I find out that we are not. What a crock of BS this is. The NCAA is and has been against us forever. When we exposed the Heels in 2010 or so they have just ratcheted it up to screw us every time. I'm sick and tired of this ***** Yes we lost those games to Wake and UNC but we made a run in the tournament and and our RPI went way up. No way they can leave us out without there being animosity towards the school.

I think that there is a reason Boo holds back on things like this. Sometimes conversations need to be held behind closed doors, and the AD needs to be level headed instead of banging his desk.
But with that being said, FSU's HC and UNC's head coach have had our back in pressers. Avent was pissed last year. Doeren called the NCAA "No Clue At All". When is someone at NC State that isn't a HC of one team going to have our back and call out their ***** And who is it? Because Boo and Randy aren't those guys.

Randy Woodson is on NCAA Board of Governors and the NCAA Division 1 Transformation Committee. Boo is chair of the CFP Selection Committee. Sure UNC used lawyers to fight the NCAA, there is a mechanism for that. Do you think that there is a mechanism where every team who thinks they are slighted by a selection committee can sue? We would never have any tournaments if that was the case.

My opinion is Corrigan could have been a little more acidic in his remark, cited the facts of the RPI and used this as an opportunity to rally the esprit de corps of a fan base that is hurting and continues to feel defecated on by the governing body of college sports. There is a way to do this without sounding whiny while also not looking like a limp rag

We lose 7 of last 11 regular season games, 5 of which were at HOME, we shouldn't be surprised. We were marginally qualified at best. It sucks, but you got to win games at home, or at least a majority . We've got some really good young talent, maybe this puts a fire in their belly next season. Go Pack!!!

I'm just going to copy/paste this b/c I doubt many of you have a D1baseball.com sub to read it but Aaron Fitt lays it out nicely just how bad this was for us (and Notre Dame). Poor Link Jarrett got penalized for having a kid at State (kidding, kinda).
There are always a few things you can nitpick with any NCAA tournament field of 64. We never agree completely with the Division I Baseball Committee, but in recent years the committee has done a generally solid job, without any exceptionally egregious blunders.
But every once in a while, the committee makes a decision that stops us in our tracks and knocks us off our feet.
NC State's omission from the field of 64 is one of the most unexpected snubs I can remember in 18 years covering college baseball. Sure, the Wolfpack entered the week on the bubble after getting swept by Wake Forest in the final weekend of the regular season to finish 14-15 in the ACC regular season, but we figured a 1-1 showing in the conference tournament would still give them a solid shot to get in. Instead, they went 3-1, beating No. 6 RPI Wake Forest and regional host Miami in pool play before taking down Pitt in the semifinals, then falling to red-hot North Carolina in the title game.
A team with a winning aggregate record in ACC play (17-16) and a No. 33 RPI should be a no-brainer at-large team, if precedent matters. In recent years, teams with that profile always get bids, because the ACC is a premier conference, and handling that meat-grinder with an acceptable RPI has been enough. The Wolfpack wasn't even close to our bubble discussion this weekend; we had it projected as a No. 2 seed, higher on the pecking order than at least 10 at-large teams that were also included in our field.
You can poke holes in NC State's case and the committee surely punished it for a No. 189 nonconference strength of schedule, and for winning just four of its 10 conference series, including just one against a regional team. And those would be valid reasons to keep NC State out if it were on the bubble. But none of that should torpedo a top-35 RPI team that finished with a winning record against conference opponents in a league that ended in a virtual tie with the SEC for the No. 1 conference RPI.
At this point, it's obvious that the ACC suffers from not having any representation on the committee, whereas the SEC (Mississippi State's John Cohen), Big 12 (Texas Tech's Kirby Hocutt) and Pac-12 (Washington's Jen Cohen) all have a seat at the table.
"It's what happens when you don't have representation from your league on the committee," said an outraged Florida State coach Mike Martin Jr at the start of his press conference Monday. "The ones that do have representation seem to get taken care of. … I feel so bad for [NC State coach] Elliott [Avent] and his tremendous ballclub that he has. There's no way they shouldn't be in."
Two years in a row, this committee has done the ACC wrong, notably by denying Notre Dame a top-eight national seed despite winning the conference by a whopping 4.5 games last year, then denying the Irish a host spot after going 18-12 aggregate in the league with a No. 12 RPI this spring.
Again, the committee will point to Notre Dame's No. 195 nonconference SOS, but that ignores the realities of scheduling as a Northern team, especially at an academically prestigious university with uncommon restrictions about missed class time factors that Division I Baseball Committee chairman Mike Buddie (AD at Army) acknowledged in a conference call with D1Baseball reporters. Weather forces Notre Dame to start the season with five straight weekends on the road, and then weather is always an issue when it finally starts to play home games in late March. Despite all of that, Notre Dame went 18-12 in the ACC, a league dominated by warm-weather powers, and finished 12th in the RPI. If the ACC got the respect it deserves from the committee, those two data points on their own would make Notre Dame an easy host.
Nonconference scheduling is tricky; it's hard to predict just how good or just how bad an opponent from another league will turn out to be. NC State probably assumed scheduling a three-game weekend series against CAA power Northeastern would be great for its RPI, but the Huskies had a disappointing year, finishing just 31-29-1, and their early-March sweep of the Wolfpack wound up hurting NC State a lot but likely not as much NC State's weekend sweeps of 15-33 Quinnipiac and 15-33 Radford. On the flip side, NC State won two midweek games against top-eight national seed East Carolina, an early weekend series win against a good Evansville team that finished second in the MVC (ahead of at-large team Dallas Baptist), and two quality midweek games against regional team UNC Greensboro.
It's not a standout body of nonconference work, but it should have been adequate when paired with NC State's RPI and 17-16 mark against ACC teams. History suggests a team with that profile is a lock. After NC State's devastating COVID-induced "no contest" elimination from Omaha last year after winning its first two games, the Wolfpack had to replace seven of their nine position players starters, and then lost their preseason All-America ace to injury early this season, but still they found a way to grind into at-large position. They looked poised to cruise into regionals, where perhaps college baseball's most famous current player the sensation known as Tommy Tanks would have been a marquee attraction.

All of those teams had stellar seasons and constructed resums that would have made them all no-brainers in a normal year, with a more normal bubble size. You could make cases for all of those teams to get in ahead of some of the last four in, like Dallas Baptist and Grand Canyon and Ole Miss, but you can also make cases in the other direction. Pick any collection of those teams you like, and they're all defensible.
But NC State seemed in a separate group entirely above this tier, which is why its omission was so gut-wrenching. Nobody saw it coming.
"We truly try to set the best 33 at-larges, and it was brutally painful, I'm not going to kid you," Buddie said. "Not just NC State, but Rutgers and Wofford and Old Dominion and San Antonio, they were all still on the board for those last precious spots, and we made sure that we had a conversation. We took a break, had a meal and had another conversation. We kept coming back to it. We probably did discuss NC State any more than anybody else in those last four out, because it was, it was very painful. But we tried to compare 'like' team sheets, so Wofford and Old Dominion and Liberty and Grand Canyon are a little bit more easy to compare to each other, as well as Ole Miss, Florida State and NC State, a little bit more similar resums. … We revisited the NC State resum several, several times, including early this morning."
And it's particularly hard to construct a case for Ole Miss over NC State, considering the Wolfpack finished five spots ahead in the RPI (Ole Miss is No. 38), had a better record in a comparable conference (Ole Miss went 15-17 aggregate in the SEC, counting a midweek nonconference win against Mississippi State), and finished better in its conference tournament (Ole Miss went 0-1 in Hoover).

The Patriots did some great things in nonconference play, as we have documented, and that's what got them into the field, along with a No. 23 RPI. But usually performance in conference play outweighs nonconference metrics, and DBU was disappointing in MVC play, finishing 11-9-1 in the regular season, going 1-2 in the conference tourney, and winning just three of its seven MVC series. The Patriots finished in third place in the Valley, 4.5 games out of first place, in the No. 9 RPI conference but still got a bid at the expense of a Wofford team that won its regular-season title by 4.5 games, won a head-to-head series against DBU on the road, and had a perfectly respectable RPI. In sum, DBU had a real case thanks to its nonconference body of work, but it didn't have a better case than Wofford.
This is not an exact science, and there will always be people who object to any field. I thought this particular field was more flawed than most, and I couldn't help but notice that leagues without representation on the committee seemed underseeded. In addition to the NC State and Notre Dame cases noted above, it was also a bit of a surprise to see Florida State on the list of "last four teams in" the field, as we didn't regard the Seminoles as a bubble team either.
Then there's the Big Ten. Maryland deserved a top-eight national seed after going 45-12, winning the regular-season title and finishing No. 9 in the RPI no small feat for a Big Ten team. This committee seeded the Terps way down at No. 15, a sign that this group simply did not hold the Big Ten in high regard. The omission of Rutgers is another sign of that; the Scarlet Knights played a light nonconference schedule and lost series against the best teams in the B1G, but they still went 44-15 overall, 17-7 in their league, reached the B1G title game, and ended at No. 42 in the RPI. Big Ten teams with that kind of profile just about always get bids; but Rutgers was denied. The Big Ten, like the ACC, did not have a representative on the committee. That stuff isn't supposed to matter, but it does. We see it every year.
I also take issue with the committee's stubbornness with regards to making up its mind about regional hosts before all the conference title games have been played. Oklahoma should have been a host after taking down Texas in Sunday's title game, boosting the Sooners into the top 20 of the RPI and giving them the Big 12's best overall record, as well as serious sustained momentum down the stretch. The only reason to deny OU a host is because you made up your mind before that final game, when the Sooners were stuck in the mid-20s in the RPI.
Ultimately, the process is imperfect, and the end result will never be perfect because such a thing is not possible perfection is in the eye of the beholder. But I can only speak for myself, as one beholder, and I was disappointed with this committee's work.

Then there's the Big Ten. Maryland deserved a top-eight national seed after going 45-12, winning the regular-season title and finishing No. 9 in the RPI no small feat for a Big Ten team. This committee seeded the Terps way down at No. 15, a sign that this group simply did not hold the Big Ten in high regard. The omission of Rutgers is another sign of that; the Scarlet Knights played a light nonconference schedule and lost series against the best teams in the B1G, but they still went 44-15 overall, 17-7 in their league, reached the B1G title game, and ended at No. 42 in the RPI. Big Ten teams with that kind of profile just about always get bids; but Rutgers was denied. The Big Ten, like the ACC, did not have a representative on the committee. That stuff isn't supposed to matter, but it does. We see it every year.
I also take issue with the committee's stubbornness with regards to making up its mind about regional hosts before all the conference title games have been played. Oklahoma should have been a host after taking down Texas in Sunday's title game, boosting the Sooners into the top 20 of the RPI and giving them the Big 12's best overall record, as well as serious sustained momentum down the stretch. The only reason to deny OU a host is because you made up your mind before that final game, when the Sooners were stuck in the mid-20s in the RPI.
Ultimately, the process is imperfect, and the end result will never be perfect because such a thing is not possible perfection is in the eye of the beholder. But I can only speak for myself, as one beholder, and I was disappointed with this committee's work.

Sure UNC used lawyers to fight the NCAA, there is a mechanism for that. Do you think that there is a mechanism where every team who thinks they are slighted by a selection committee can sue? We would never have any tournaments if that was the case.

Like it or not, and most of us don't but this is where we are.

Inexcusable exclusion but State has gotten away with bad non conference scheduling for years and it finally bit them. Shouldn't have cost them a bid though. Put together a real schedule next year

Key phrase "OOC". I absolutely hate that any tourney figures OOC sos into the equation. It's ignorant. Look at the total SOS and that's it. Why does OOC even matter?
Its pretty silly isn't it? They're looking at an entire resume, and the overall SOS of 26th isn't important.
And it speaks to a bigger issue with these metrics. We don't care it rates you 33rd, but it sure counts when looking at everyone elses resume that you are on. Wake gets credited for sweeping a team that high on the road, but then when measuring that team it just doesn't matter. And all of these are folded in together. Its not like Non Con is just some absentee stat to add on. Its all so backward and dumb.

I just looked and it isn't bad. They played a series against unc, went 1-2. They played Va Tech, us twice, duke (they stunk), Maryland and Michigan from the Big10, both in the field. Look at Wake in basketball this year. Went 13-7 in the ACC but it didn't matter b/c of their OOC.

Usual negligence from the ACC
When you play in a conference that got nine teams in the field, and four of the top 16 seeds, out of conference SOS should only matter if you are being judged against another ACC team. It's a bull**** copout.
