No, we don't. Dave Portnoy can say all the mean words and crap we all want to say and hear but ultimately he can do it b/c he isn't held accountable to anyone at NC State unlike Boo and Randy Woodson. In a month Portnoy will find another team to faux rage for and that'll be that. Just like all the politicians will find the next thing to faux rage about as well and NC State will be in their rear view. On to the next potential voter.Wolfpack1724 said:
We have a much better chance of Dave Portnoy taking action on State's behalf than Boo Corrigan, that much is for sure.
Thanks for saving me the time. I go with this.Pocketflask said:

Insane to think Boo just keeps making this worse. He just repeats the same phrases in every interview. "Medical experts", "heartbroken" "had to accept" "don't let this take away from the season"

This is not a defense of Corrigan or how he has handled the past few days. I just have a genuine question as to what people think would have changed if he was more public/more angry or whatever people are wanting for a response?

He could have confirmed directly that Douglas Co Health Dept did not recommend State be removed from the tournament as NCAA incorrectly stated.
He could have publicly told the NCAA to hold off and made sure there were no false positives.
He could have questioned why most of NC State's team was allowed to fly home on an airplane, but not play in a baseball game outside.
He could have questioned why the NCAA allowed 20,000+ unmasked fans to watch a game, but wouldn't let all State players testing negative to play in the game.
He could have requested support from the public, MLB players and Nebraska politicians.
The NCAA is no different than any politician, they will bend based on a narrative.
NC State's "leadership" did none of those things.

In the last fews years, the NCAA gave in on player compensation, relaxed transfer rules (before covid), caved to states hosting events despite transgender policies. That's just recently - the NCAA is a political animal with no more "values" than any run of the mill politician.

All of those are examples where the decisions affected all of the member schools equally. Have they reversed a decision like this that was something that affected only 1 school and would benefit only 1 school due to public pressure?

Didn't they reverse their decision on Braxton Beverly's eligibility the second he lawyered up?
I don't understand the issue with Douglas Co. Health.WilmingtonPackman777 said:jadawson said:

Not arguing with you, because I think your original list has some good suggestions, that though may not have made any real difference, would have at least felt better and demonstrated that we, as an athletics program, knew the NCAA had crapped on us.WilmingtonPackman777 said:jadawson said:WilmingtonPackman777 said:

They let an OSU football player play in a bowl game despite accepting money if he promised to come back to school to serve his punishment (which he never did). This was a clear change in policy to benefit one school due to public/corporate/political pressure.

but in those examples of changes you're discussing now -- were any of them resolved in like, 12-24 hours? That is ultimately what we would have needed ,right? Absolutely no way were they going to shut down the CWS. Theoretically, they could have delayed our game and planned to use Sunday and not impacted the CWS.
But would 24 hours have given adequate time?
**We all WANT to say "heck yes", but really?
As has been stated several times it can take 4-5 days before you register positive. So once we had positive tests we were done due to contact tracing.....It really is not that hard. I deal with the same thing coaching my HS team. Rules are rules. Control what you can control. You cannot control the rules but you can control what your guys do so that you keep them safe from the rules.WilmingtonPackman777 said:Packchem91 said:Not arguing with you, because I think your original list has some good suggestions, that though may not have made any real difference, would have at least felt better and demonstrated that we, as an athletics program, knew the NCAA had crapped on us.WilmingtonPackman777 said:jadawson said:WilmingtonPackman777 said:

My point is we will never know because NC State didn't try. And that's a major problem. State admin should have raised hell to get covid negative players on the field to play a baseball game outside.
But we are the ones that got burnt. There is nothing wrong with requiring MORE (i know everyone hates the caps) from your young men to allow them to reach their ultimate goal. It is roulette....Not everyone that interacts with people is going to get the virus. Just takes one. So keep everyone away from everythingwilmwolf80 said:
Every single team had players mingling with fans and doing things off site, vaccinated or not. Mississippi State just put out a release Sunday changing their policy of allowing players to mingle with fans in the hotel lobby. We didn't do anything more or less to protect the players than anyone else did.

In the "strange but true" category I am now seeing some MSU fans around town wearing masks....including outdoors wandering around the park and festival area. I hadn't seen a single mask anywhere around Omaha until yesterday.....and these MSU folks ain't the type to be wearing masks outside normallywilmwolf80 said:
