The first action in fall 2026 (individual singles and doubles competition) is not that far away. The ITA All-American tournament is usually the first competition, and should be held at Cary Tennis Park again, in late September 2026. So only about 3 months from now.

I noticed today that the women's tennis roster for the 2026-27 season has now been put up on Gopack. All 7 of the players on last years' team that we expected to return are listed, along with the 2 announced incoming transfers, Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo and Roisin Gilheany....for a total roster of 9 players.

The only player from last year's roster that had remaining eligibility that did not return is Michaela Laki (who was still recovering from ACL surgery all year), and it had been reported several months ago that she was in the transfer portal. I noticed a few weeks ago on Laki's Instagram that she has transferred to Miami.

This 2026-27 Wolfpack women's team looks to be even better than the team from the previous year which made it to the Elite Eight. The only player we lost (that was a key contributor last year), to graduation, was our #2 singles player Anna Zyryanova. I would expect the freshman Osuigwe to make a significant improvement in her sophomore season, and help make up for the loss of Zyryanova. The big "wild card" for how good this team will be, IMO, is the transfer Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo. If she is fully healthy and able to play, this team could be extremely good and IMO be one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the country and in the mix to win the national team title.

Good news on the Texas transfer Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo and her recovery from the leg injury that caused her to miss most of the spring 2026 team competition season. She posted a story on her Instagram account today with a video of her on the court hitting/practicing. She has no brace or tape of any kind on her leg and is moving around well and with no indication of any hindrance/pain or injury. The video was originally posted as a story on the Instagram account of Performance Lab Tennis, a training facility in Long Island NY, where the video was taken. The caption of the video said "working her way back" and Ariana reposted it with the caption "baby steps".
