HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED didn't fit here and that was fine … until he started blaming the program. His social media is not a good look. Maybe that's partly a generational divide. but I follow hundreds of high school and college runners on Insta and he is an immature trainwreck.

In spite of his talent, he failed to find a landing spot out of the transfer portal. I sorta doubt he has any semblance of a clue why … I always root for the few kids that do end up transferring out, regardless of their reasons, but I'm making a special exception for him.

According to his own YT videos, he wanted "to be free" wanted to be an "individual" - his words not mind. There's hundreds of videos he could have looked at about our program. ALL of them said they came - among other things - because of the team environment, the team culture. Then to criticize the program for building team culture.

Race was Won by Ali Werner of Minnesota in 16:15.3.

45 Ruby Hughes 18:57.6, +162secs

IOWA St kept out the following:
- Mercyline Kirwa (10k champion)
- Betty Kipkore (15th at XC Natl)
- Mercy Kibet (20th at XC Nat'l)
- Rosemary Longisa (27th at XC Nat'l and 1500m champion)
- new recruit Sylvia Jebet (no time)

It's a rust buster but 1 takeaway is how far Iowa St's current No 5 runner was behind the winner. Remember last year's Nuttycombe B race? Briley Bickerstaff and Daniela Scheffler finished 40 and 50 seconds, respectively, behind Werner. Maybe Werner has made great strides this year and Granted that race was 1 year ago but still….Iowa St's hunt for a No5 runner continues. Stride Report has stated they are a title contender. Not for now but stay tuned, their next meet is a "Home Meet #2" in 2 weeks - which I suspect will not be a full squad - and in 4 weeks at the Nuttycombe Invit.
