That kid from Asheville was looking for a reason to leave. We have American Tobacco Trail, Umstead and WakeMed for workouts. Our teams rarely run on asphalt.

HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED didn't fit here and that was fine … until he started blaming the program. His social media is not a good look. Maybe that's partly a generational divide. but I follow hundreds of high school and college runners on Insta and he is an immature trainwreck.

In spite of his talent, he failed to find a landing spot out of the transfer portal. I sorta doubt he has any semblance of a clue why … I always root for the few kids that do end up transferring out, regardless of their reasons, but I'm making a special exception for him.

According to his own YT videos, he wanted "to be free" wanted to be an "individual" - his words not mind. There's hundreds of videos he could have looked at about our program. ALL of them said they came - among other things - because of the team environment, the team culture. Then to criticize the program for building team culture.

No 3 IOWA ST competed at the Cyclone Preview 5k, Ames IA, Fri Sep 4.
Race was Won by Ali Werner of Minnesota in 16:15.3.

IOWA ST runners:
14 Sophia Keditukei 17:36.5, + 81secs
24 Claire White 18:07.4, +112secs
28 Olivia Verde 18:12.2, +117secs
45 Ruby Hughes 18:57.6, +162secs

IOWA St kept out the following:
- Mercyline Kirwa (10k champion)
- Betty Kipkore (15th at XC Natl)
- Mercy Kibet (20th at XC Nat'l)
- Rosemary Longisa (27th at XC Nat'l and 1500m champion)
- new recruit Sylvia Jebet (no time)

It's a rust buster but 1 takeaway is how far Iowa St's current No 5 runner was behind the winner. Remember last year's Nuttycombe B race? Briley Bickerstaff and Daniela Scheffler finished 40 and 50 seconds, respectively, behind Werner. Maybe Werner has made great strides this year and Granted that race was 1 year ago but still….Iowa St's hunt for a No5 runner continues. Stride Report has stated they are a title contender. Not for now but stay tuned, their next meet is a "Home Meet #2" in 2 weeks - which I suspect will not be a full squad - and in 4 weeks at the Nuttycombe Invit.

ISU's fortunes lie with 11 women. Eleven! Sudbury knows what he's doing and I fully expect him to focus on bringing in yet another crop of older Kenyans between January and next summe, then do it again with some 19-21 year old Kenyans next August.

Sudbury has no shame and they will be tough to beat in the seasons to come.

I will be shocked if Bartlett does not go to an Ivy or Stanford. I guess maybe ND.

You were spot on! Bartlett commits to Stanford today.

That leaves us with only 2 sub10:00 3200m to draw on: Averi Lowen (most likely to Tennessee) and Ruby Ihmels.

Stanford is quietly or not so quietly reloading the chamber!

They got another commitment from another NJ girl last night, mid-distance runner Reagan Moore.

the prize in-state recruit for class of 2028 is Estep and Dorsch. In case people are interested, Cardinal Gibbons (Estep) and Pinecrest (Dorsch) will be at the Adidas XC challenge this year on Sat Sep 19th.

Apologies but Madeline Dorsch is NOT running at Adidas XC Challenge. I checked the entry list twice but not registered. Dyestat#28 Kaitlyn Estep is entered (seed time of 17:04), along with other top NC runners Dyestat#41 Elle Dawson of Ragsdale (seed time 17:15) and Dyestat#71 Calli Townsend of Watauga (seed time 17:16). 590 runners are entered, they hit the wooded area where the course narrows at approx the 600m mark, that's going to be insane trying to get 590 runners through that.

still wondering who they will get from class of 27. The SC girl (Lindsey- 10:18) just committed to Furman

And National Signing Day is Nov 11, just 40 days away!

In looking at other NC State programs, they've already moved on to class of 2028 (softball already has 2).

Who could we get? The following are from your google sheet, all sub 10:15 for 3200m and still uncommitted along with their 2026 PB XC results:
1 Avery Lowen (GA) - 9:41 (3200)
Winner of Wingfoot XC Classic 5k on Sep 19 in 16:51

2 Ruby Imhels (ND) - 9:59 (3200)
Winner of Augustana Twilight 5k on Sep 4th in 16:46

3 Delaney Reuter (CO) - 10:06 (3200)
Winner of Windsor Wizards Invitational 5k on Sep 18 in 16:40 (at altitude in CO)!

4 Eliana Patterson (CA) - 10:10 (3200).
No XC results so far

5 Madeleine Lane (NH) - 10:10 (3200)
Winner of Woodbridge 3miles on Sep 19th in 15:47 (5k conversion is 16:27)

6 Annie Hrabovsky (MI) - 10:13 (3200)
No XC results so far

We have to get 1 of the above or move on to class of 2028.
