Really close loss to unc-cheat. I was there. Nothing to hang their heads about in that match. They could have very easily won it if just one of those singles matches they lost goes the other way -- which particularly could have happened in the Slama match, which could have gone either way. And our #1 singles player Broadfoot surprised many by playing Brantmeier (the NCAA singles champion) very closely, taking it 3 sets and almost winning. There are a LOT of positive things going on with the Wolfpack women's team.

One thing to watch....our #3 singles player, Anna Zyryanova, had a minor injury near the end of her match against unc's Evans. It appeared to possibly be an ankle sprain, but I'm not sure on that. She sat on the court for about 4-5 minutes after the injury and took a medical timeout. She returned to play the final few games, and was moving around "ok", the best I could tell. So hopefully she is ok.

Two days later, unc-cheat beat #1 Georgia by a score of 5-2. So, unc will probably take over as #1 in the nation, and we played them toe-to-toe and almost beat them. So that leads us to believe that the NC State women's team can compete with anyone in the nation, if they play their best.

No. 9 @PackWTennis fought for a win against No. 8 Oklahoma State, but couldn't pull off the same magic against No. 4 Auburn and No. 5 LSU.

The Pack is running the gauntlet early, getting the preparation it needs before conference play.

Impressive 7-0 win over #17 Michigan today. They've played some extremely tough competition over the last two weeks - with close losses to four top 10 ranked teams - unc, Auburn, LSU, Ohio State. And one won over then #8 ranked Oklahoma State.

Given that our team is relatively young (only one senior), I like the upside of this team and believe they can improve over the course of the season more than most top teams. In a couple months, I like our chances to beat many of these other top 10 teams. Would really love a rematch with unc in the ACC tournament.

A couple of big singles wins against Michigan. Slama playing at #1 singles beat the #14 ranked D1 player in singles, and Broadfoot at #2 singles took down the #9 ranked player in the country.

Slama is a sophomore who played #5 and #6 singles for us last year as a true freshman. She has made a huge jump this season, playing at #1 or #2 singles so far this season, and has shot up the singles rankings (currently #36 in the country).

Continuing its gauntlet of a schedule, No. 8 @PackWTennis fell to No. 2 Ohio State after taking the doubles point early.

But it recovered with a 7-0 shutout of No. 17 Michigan following a relentless onslaught of talent.
