As long as this is the Chicago Street Race being moved to San Diego and then to Philly (or wherever). I don't mind them playing with this concept, but as long as it only replaces another track "of like kind"...
Agree, I don't want two or three of these things. Plus, anymore than 1 and it loses its novelty.

In viewership as well as in buzz in and around the host city...

@PrimeVideo got 1.869 million viewers for Sunday's rain-delayed NASCAR race at Pocono.

Last year on @USANetwork got 2.391 million.

Both last year (attempted assassination of President Trump) and last weekend (Middle East turmoil) had unusually high competition from news.

Well, I guess at least 1.87 is better than that 1.77 from a couple of weeks ago... and what do you know, only down 21.7% from last year. *Great way to grow your sport there NASCAR.

@NASCAR and @FloSports will simulcast seven live events the rest of this year on FloRacing and NASCAR's FAST channel.

Those include Cookout Summer Shootout Legends cars, ARCA at Sonoma, season finale at Bowman Gray, ValleyStar Credit Union 300 and Snowball Derby qualifying.

Godspeed Larry McClure. I saw him at the airport not too long ago and introduced him to a friend as "This here is the man who owned the slickest looking bullet that ever cut through Daytona." And he said "Hi, I'm Larry, and he's damn right."

Those early to mid 90's engines he ran at Daytona and Talladega for Sterling Marlin sounded funny but were super fast. The Firecracker 400 I went to in 94 no car on the track sounded the way it did.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

NASCAR posts younger -- if smaller -- audience in first year on Amazon Prime Video. Final tally is a 16% overall decline in viewership and 36% decline in 55+, offset by across-the-board double-digit gains among 12-17, 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54:

We shall see if the trend upward continues into next year. I hope that it does, but I have my doubts.

T.J. Puchyr agrees to buy Rick Ware Racing with plans to build a 3-car NASCAR team

T.J. Puchyr, who in 2018 alongside Jeff Dickerson launched the Spire team to take over the charter that Furniture Row Racing could not unload, told The Associated Press on Thursday he and Rick Ware Racing have a deal for him to take over Ware's organization next season.

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2025/06/nascar-prime-ratings-recap-young-audience-grows-older-decline/
Quote:

Though down overall, the Prime Video package posted across-the-board gains in the key young adult demographics, with viewership up 36, 19 and 28 percent respectively in adults 18-34 (233K), 18-49 (601K) and 25-54 (807K). In addition, viewership soared 93 percent among teens 12-17, though the raw audience figure was a mere 56,000.

The growth among young viewers was offset by a sharp decline among viewers over 55, as viewership in that demo declined 36 percent from 1.79 million last year to 1.14 million this year. Viewers 55+ still made up slightly more than half of the audience (53%), but that was a reduction from the five equivalent races last year when they accounted for more than two-thirds (70%).

Well, first of all their math seems off to me... when I add 233K+601K+807K, I get 1.641MM which is more than 1.14MM, but being down 36% in a demographic that was STILL by far your largest in number of eyeballs continues to be about the dumbest marketing strategy I've seen in quite a while...

In most corporations, the CEO would get fired for making a decision like that... and then for someone to spin the results as a success, well that takes real genius (or complete idiocy) to attempt to pull that off...

Reminds me of that woman that used to be at Bud Light that thought putting a cross dresser on their can would be a great idea.

Logano and Berry run the exact lap times in Cup Qualifying but Logano gets the pole via points.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Yup. That's where the Ol' owner points come in. Hopefully Ford can finish where they are starting.

Brad Keselowski was on espnradio Marty abd McGee this morning

He told story about a fan who brought a hat to him to sign. He said it was a person I his 20s and the hat was several years old.

The fan said it was his grandfather's hat abd his grandfather died earlier this year abd his grandfather never got a chance to get hat signed and the young fan wanted to get it signed.

Brad started talking about we talk about changing of eras and often talk of drivers, but he is seeing a changing in eras of fan base also

Glad to see the 9 get the win. I'm sure that kid and the family will always take the moment in. Now, as for the race, that was a hard one to watch.

I did like the fact that the leaders didn't just check out once they got in front. . But I agree it was a hard race to watch. I mean they showed a graphic near the end that showed only 4 cars didn't have some damage from a crash at some point i the race.

Chase all the way up to 2nd in points ahead of even Larson, Hamlin and Bell now... I know I didn't get to see many races here the last however many weeks, but that's the last thing I would have expected to see this morning?

Another 1st time winner too, which I think now brings us up to 12, right?

8 more regular season races left before the playoffs start?

I need to look at the number of winners. The 9 was around 4th in points so he was basically a lock. The 9 hasn't been winning but that team has been very consistent.

Lot of really good cars got damaged, sad that we couldn't see what they were capable of.
