Bristol sure has fallen off as a place to be…. I never thought it was a great spectator race. I've been; however, I would rather watch it on TV.
The 5 has pretty much kicked butt today, everyone else is racing for the best of the rest. As for the track, we've been going to the night race for a long time and I still enjoy it. What didn't you like? If I may ask.
It's like all short tracks when being there. It's hard to keep up with who's in what place. Watching on TV, I can at least keep up with the positions…
I see, if you ever got back, get you a scanner from Racing Electronics.
Bristol is not a race I could ever see myself going to again..
10/4. Daytona 500 is a race that I have never been, and don't wish too. I know that I'm odd for saying that.
I would definitely go once, if I ever had an excusable opportunity to do so...

I haven't been to the Daytona 500 either, However, I have been to the Pepsi/Firecracker 400. Dale Jr won that race. Also, it was the race that Austin Dillon destroyed his car going across the finish line.

I also rained like crazy and the race started really late.

We've talked about it for sure. There are a few tracks that are on my bucket list, Watkins Glenn, the new Atlanta, and maybe Kansas.

That last sentence is why I've never bought tickets. I know that every track has that potential, but dang, seems like it's every year.

I understand... My daughter, who isn't a sports fan, wanted to go to that race. Our family was in Orlando for the week and she said: Dad, let's go to the race. Well, I couldn't say no to her. We also got passes for the pit area before the race. I've got a picture of her at the start/finish line that I cherish.

@FS1 got 2.054 million viewers for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol; no direct comparison to last year because that event was on @FoxTV instead, but the 2024 spring viewership was 3.809 million.

@TheMasters crushed sports competition last weekend at 12.99 million.

Latest Rockingham revival just may lure NASCAR back for good

https://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/story/_/id/44716494/latest-rockingham-revival-just-lure-nascar-back-good

. Saturday's Xfinity race is already being touted as a sellout with more than 26,00 tickets purchased (although they'll find somewhere for you if you show up, trust me) and the promotional push has shifted to Friday afternoon's Trucks race.
Now, it is. And it is doing so because Lovenheim is doing what others before him did not. He has hired professionals who specialize in racetrack revivals and race publicity and either done what they tell him to do or simply got out of their way.

Illinois-based Track Enterprises is the outfit that upfit the once-seemingly doomed legendary likes of the Milwaukee Mile and the Nashville Fairgrounds. When I talked to Track Enterprises' Robert Sargent on Tuesday, he was rolling around The Rock with his checklist, everything from affixing signs to suite doors and the final fastening of $1 million worth of SAFER barriers to the walls, to the trimming of the infield grass and painting every flat surface to be found on the 244-acre grounds. Meanwhile, the state of North Carolina has been plastered with Rock billboards. Last month at Martinsville Speedway, Michael McDowell's Cup car carried a livery promoting the Rockingham race weekend.

"This is what we do," Sargent breathlessly explained, saying he'll sleep plenty after Easter Sunday, but not much before. "We do it because we love racing, but the best part is seeing what it means to the community. Every time I turn around, there's a new Rockingham resident standing there, asking what they can do to help. That's how much they care."

It would take a lot more than just one time sellout for Xfinity for CUP to return. Lot of factors in play.

I lost interest in the All-Star races years ago unfortunately... The Open was the first thing that came along and ruined the real race... then the stupid heats, etc... etc... etc...

Listen, I know there are people out there that like to watch every single minute of "anything" racing - but I am no longer one of them. Doesn't mean that I won't watch a minute or two of a truck race or Xfinity - but I tune in to watch the Cup. Period. And when you push the start time of the actual "real" race until late into the night, I'm sorry, I'm going to eventually get tired of waiting and go find something else to watch.

Sometimes it's like they can't see the forest for the trees... just run the damn "real" race.

I hate late starts as well, I could take or leave it, when it comes to the Clash and the All Star Race.

Back when I started going to NASCAR every race started at 1 PM. I cannot tell you how many church services I've listened to when the track Chaplain would speak to the drivers and they would broadcast it over the loud speakers. 12 - 12:30

Oh yeah, used to be a thing. Coke 600, the Bristol night race, and the Southern 500, should be the only night races. ( yes, I'm more than likely missing another ). I remember Kyle Petty talking about how by mid or late afternoon, race families would show up at the beach after the 500.

I used to go the All Star race in Charlotte a lot! A small group of us would drive up in the morning and leave father the race. We had fun times…

Nice, I miss it being at Charlotte. This year's All Star Race seems like they are reaching for straws. The way I look at it is, fans don't need to sit and do math. And that's exactly what this year's event brings.
