NC State women's soccer team finished the evening in a 0-0 draw with Atlantic Coast Conference foe Miami.

The Wolfpack (2-7-6) put the Canes (3-7-5) defense to work as they recorded five shots through the first 45 minutes. Sophomore Taylor Chism recorded the lone shot on goal in the first half, but it was blocked by the Canes goalie.

In the 77th minute, Jameese Joseph attempted a shot at the bottom left of the goal, but was stopped by the Canes keeper once again.

With two minutes left in the meeting, freshman Mary Frances Symmes recorded a shot on goal, the first of her collegiate career. The shot was the third on goal for the Pack and 11th of the evening.

The Wolfpack defense held the Canes to only five shots with two on goal. NC State keeper Olivia Pratapas recorded two saves in her 90 minutes on the pitch.

Junior Emika Kawagishi totaled three shots on the evening, the most in a match this season. In addition to Kawagishi, five other members of the Pack recorded at least one shot throughout the evening -- Joseph, Chism, and Annika Wohner each recorded two.

NC State women's soccer earned its sixth draw of the season in Coral Gables, Florida against Miami, recording a scoreless draw as the Wolfpack took on the Hurricanes in a late-season ACC showdown.
Even with both squads desperately fighting to make their way into the top half of the ACC table, neither found a way to score in the Saturday night showdown. For one of the first times all season, the Wolfpack (2-7-6, 1-3-3 ACC) led in shots, but couldn't come up with a winning goal against the Hurricanes (3-7-4, 2-4-1).
NC State had an impressive offense effort overall. The Pack recorded 11 shots on the day, and despite only firing two shots on target, the red-and-white put Miami on its back foot for a majority of the contest.

Junior midfielder Emika Kawagishi led the Pack's attack with three shots in her 90 minutes on the pitch. Fellow junior midfielder Annika Wohner, who scored a goal in the Pack's previous match, followed right behind Kawagishi with two shots. Meanwhile, senior forward Jameese Joseph and sophomore defender Taylor Chism each fired two shots.
NC State managed to record five of its shots in the first half, with the lone shot on goal from Chism.

On the other side of the pitch, junior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas and the Wolfpack defense fended off Miami for the entirety of the first half. With the Hurricanes failing to record a single shot on the first 45, the red-and-white had a promising chance to follow up on its second win of the season in its previous match.
However, the Wolfpack just couldn't break through the Miami defense in the second period. Joseph sent a promising shot on the bottom left corner of the goal, but the Hurricanes' keeper denied the Pack's star forward. Freshman defender Mary Frances Symmes made a last-minute attempt on goal, but NC State couldn't find the winner.
However, the Canes still couldn't break through the NC State defense in the latter 45 minutes. Pratapas recorded her two saves of the night in the half and had to contend with five Miami shots in the period.
NC State will return home to Dail Soccer Stadium for a duel with Syracuse as it starts the final stretch of its 2023 regular season schedule. Kickoff against the Orange is set for Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.

NC State women's soccer posted its second straight home ACC victory with a 2-0 win over Syracuse on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Stadium.

Hannah Jibril scored her first-career goal to give NC State an early 1-0 lead. Jibril chased a through ball from Jameese Joseph into the Syracuse penalty box before drawing a foul from Kylen Grant. Jibril blasted the ensuing penalty shot into the right side of the goal for the opening strike in the 15th minute.

Joseph almost doubled the Pack's lead in the 21st minute when Orange goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch saved Joseph's right-footed strike with her feet. Ten minutes later, Annika Wohner collected a long pass from Emika Kawagishi, cut inside from the left side and unleashed a right-footed strike toward Vanderbosch's goal, forcing a diving save from the Syracuse keeper.

In the second half, Taylor Chism fired a header off a Kawagishi corner kick in the 67th minute, forcing a save from Vanderbosch. NC State continued to apply pressure before a late breakaway helped seal the 2-0 victory.

Joseph spun around a defender near midfield and raced toward the 18-yard box, picking out Wohner for the goal in the 88th minute. Wohner's first effort was blocked before she placed her rebound effort past Vanderbosch for her fourth goal of the season.

NC State goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas logged her second straight shutout and the third of her Wolfpack career. Pratapas made five saves to preserve the Pack's 2-0 victory.

NC State extended its unbeaten streak against the Orange to six straight matches. The Wolfpack has won five of those six meetings and has outscored Syracuse 18-6 during that time.

Wohner led NC State with three shot attempts, while Leyah Hall-Robinson, Alexis Strickland and Jibril each recorded two attempts apiece.

NC State women's soccer dropped its final match of its 2023 season when it visited No. 1 Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida. The top-ranked Seminoles crushed the Wolfpack 5-0 to finish off its disappointing 2023 campaign.

Despite the Pack's (3-9-6, 2-5-3 ACC) success in holding the Seminoles scoreless for a majority of the first half and heading to the break only down 1-0, Florida State (14-0-1, 9-0-1 ACC) piled it on in the final 45 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas recorded six saves, but the Noles' second-half onslaught was too much for Pratapas and company to handle.

In spite of the dismal final result, NC State had a promising start to the contest. On top of keeping a Florida State team off the board, the Wolfpack had some promising chances to take the lead in Tallahassee in the first half.

Freshman forward Jade Bordeleau rocketed a dangerous shot on goal in the 30th minute after a corner kick rebound made by junior midfielder Annika Wohner. Bordeleau's shot was inches off the mark, loudly careening off the bar to nearly give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Instead, the Seminoles took the lead just 13 minutes later. Defender Lauren Flynn scored the first goal of her hat trick on an unassisted goal to earn the advantage. Despite giving up the goal, a 1-0 deficit to the undisputed best team in the nation was a bearable result for NC State heading into the break.

However, it didn't last long the Seminoles mercilessly ran up the score come the second half. The onslaught began with Flynn's second score of the night just her third of the season on another unassisted goal in the 49th minute.

Florida State scored twice more in the next five minutes, tallying one in the 50th minute and in the 54th minute the third and final score of Flynn's career night. Florida State put one more past Pratapas in the 68th minute to finish off the dominating 5-0 win.

While multiple Wolfpack attackers recorded shots on goal, NC State's offensive efforts were rendered moot once the Noles stepped on the gas. The red-and-white only tallied one shot in the second half, putting its total on the night at five compared to Florida State's 26. The Noles also earned 11 corner kicks to the Pack's one, giving no chance for the visitors to get into the game.

The loss marks the end of NC State's 2023 season, and the end of the collegiate careers of multiple NC State players such senior forwards Jameese Joseph, Alexis Strickland and Leyah Hall-Robinson.

The Wolfpack will retake the field in 2024 with hopes for a more successful season with a young, talented squad supplemented by an impressive recruiting class.
